Battlefield Close Quarters Expansion Pack announced

    http://www.battlefield.com/battlefie...close-quarters

IMO...this makes BF3 more like COD and less like BF2.

Expansion packs Battlefield 3: Armored Kill and Battlefield 3: End Game will be announced at a later time.
Hopefully we see a patch out before these packs, but knowing EA that will be doubtful. Money wins.

Frankly, some of the best firefights I've ever had in a game have been on Day of Defeat Source, and various flavors of Call of Duty; both of which are games where close range fights are the most common.

I was really pleased with how BtK turned out, so I have no problem with paying DICE $10-$20 for more.

Battlefield 3: Close Quarters is a themed expansion pack bringing the team play of Battlefield 3 to ... blah blah marketing bull crap
See, this is a fine idea, but it makes me want to knee someone in the groin multiple times when I see them using words like team play as a marketing tool to keep their product distinctive, when they clearly give no value to real team play whatsoever and are just trying to get even closer to the CoD style of play, and further from the Battlefield style of play.

And I didn't even buy the freaking game.

Same here, the building to building fights in Day of Defeat were excellent. I'm looking forward to that kind of battle, especially if they can really deliver on the destructibility they're touting for this.

My current fear is that we're going to have to shell out 20 or 30 dollars for four new Metro style meatgrinder maps, and new explosive weapons.

On one hand, yeah that kind of stinks but on the other, I think it's to be expected with these kind of maps. How many people can you really cram into an office building or other really constrained area? I'd think the armor based xpac and the last of the three would be the larger scale battle focus.

I just watched some gameplay footage of Close Quarters, it looks just like MW3. I would like to get the leaders of EA in some "close quarters" and give them a few knuckle sandwiches. I think they are trying to make Microsoft and Sony happy first since consoles have a max of 32 players.

Here's a pretty good fan site that has the footage http://battlefieldo.com/pages/drmb

Well the video clip is really like what 2 minutes of the same area with abput 4-5 people in total, We have no idea how big these maps really are, Probably metro in size from spawn to spawn but hopefully less of a cluster.

I use vehicles a lot as much as I can, But I do not see anything wrong with any of these maps, If done right they could be really fun, the most fun I've had in BF3 so far is some of the close combat fighting on the maps, Thats what BF is about having a variety of map types, we had close combat maps in BF2 and they where clusters as well, and we will from what it sound like get large vehicle maps in the future I do not see any reason to get upset over any of this.
Personaly I prefer BF3 over BF2, I didn't like BF2 all the much, I remember a lot of running, dolphin diving and jet bomb spam.

I'll be buying this whenever It comes out, Along with the other dlc.

The video in your link is a map we already have. I don't believe there is any video released yet for the expansion. The BF page says next week a trailer will come out.
Either way I'm down for no vehicles.
