Re: Time to upgrade to 64 bit
Maybe, Or hopefully they are switching to a PC focused market again.
The last few games have been Console focused, this could really mean they are going back to a PC focus with them which would mean great things for the BF series.

Re: Time to upgrade to 64 bit
To my knowledge, 64 bit was required for BF3, so this is no surprise. If you are interested in semi-serious to serious PC gaming these days, you would have a 64 bit OS already installed.

Re: Time to upgrade to 64 bit
Minimum OS requirements are Windows Vista or 7, and they recommend Windows 7 64 bit. I imagine trying to get Windows 7 and BF3 running smoothly with a max of <4gb of RAM would be rather tricky.

Re: Time to upgrade to 64 bit
Well, Package says Minimum is Vista and 32 bit, but they dont say that Windows 7 and 32 bit wont work. Just that Windows 7 AND 64 bit is recommended. I've got Windows 7 with 64 bit and 4 gig with not too mcuh trouble. I think most of my problems arise from bad internet in my area. Tho I noticed several individuals last night on the server were getting the game crash quite alot. Myaself I had two in a 15 min span.
Did get BF3 to work before with 2 gig of ram, but graphics had to stay low. Somehow the game knew what processes to shut down whele working under 2 gig of ram. You could see the RAM being used on my G15 Logictech keyboard go down just as game was loading, then it would shoot up to 95%.

Re: Time to upgrade to 64 bit
a 32-bit system doesnt even use 4gb of ram anway, it cuts it down to 3.2gb I believe.....(maybe xp did that

Re: Time to upgrade to 64 bit
I was wrong, BF3 didn't specifically require 64 bit OS's, only recommending them. That said, Dillweed is correct, a 32 bit OS only utilizes that much RAM (3.2 GB).

Re: Time to upgrade to 64 bit
SSD 64bit and a large hunk of ram really help. BF3 uses more video ram on my machine than anything else though. It just about maxes both my asus 6870's. Hardly touches my processor though.
