The SAAW in 2142 was literally flying death for a gunship, i remembering have to quickly duck behind small buildings to dodge those if you were caught in the air you were done for, the shields didnt even work sometimes igla is useless agreed. Only good for transport chopper and even than...
This got mentioned in TS tonight but thank good jets dont carry the carpet bombs like they did in BF2, one strafe run, everything obliterated.
Im sorry, the ONLY time i see people use it is alone. a single guy on the roof of a building dying over and over because no one else is using it, In the chopper on most maps we would be brought down from 2-3 people working together, but they never do.

Well, if you take a chopper down that easily, then its the chopper crew that is at fault. It is EASY to avoid the lock and just fly away. The only time it would work is when the actual ecm glitches or the pilot makes a mistake.
Tonight I was in the chopper by myself on wake and they couldnt take me down. Only time they took me down was when they either rammed me or all the air assets came at me. I was by myself so if I had a proper gunner I couldve stayed up even then.
You know... the thing that makes hand helds powerful is the fact that below radar doesn't work on them. I can dodge a jav thats been locked on me, I can dodge AA missiles at low altitude if need be, but the stinger/igla will hit w/o flares or ecm. 1 player with a stinger can deny an airspace of a chopper... Only a dumb pilot would fly around with a solid lock all the time. The point isn't to kill, its airspace denial. And if you are chaning your kit just as the chopper is attacking... Its way way too late. And as for jets, no you can lock them and hit them just as they come in. It happened to me several times playing today. But either way, I do agree that the limited range is horrid. There are a few ways for a chopper pilot to find the player with the stinger/igla if you are willing to throw the aircraft out there a little. And yes unfortunatly its only 1 person thats always in the same places, but thats not the choppers problem. Its when you get 2 or 3 people that things for a heli get really ugly. Sharqui is a really good example, if you dont have a squad focused on downing the havoc you may aswell be asking for a raping. It was just the same in BF2, annoying as it is thats the way it is. And as its been said, you dont have to worry about any of us in f15's anymore. And the choppers suck compared to BF2, so much less controll.

Wondering where I am? Look up and wait for the inevitable sound of 2000lbs of death and destruction that is about to ruin your day.
From the March 27 patch changelog:
-Below Radar will now also prevent the lock on of Stinger and IGLA missiles.
I can also confirm this based on personal experience, below radar is good against any kind of heatseeker missile.
yup....IGLA is a paper wieght, unless you have a squad dedicated to anti air. So we need 1 or 2 squads anti armor, and at least 1 squad anti air.......hmmmmm no one left to take flags
While we are all waiting for the Battlelog update to complete in the next 2 hours you can start up Origin and download the 2GB BF3 patch in the meantime...
Smoke has an near flat trajectory. Lasts much longer. Shock paddles seem to now be bugged(at least for me) as I was finding it extremely difficult to rez people with them.
It is not often that I encounter across myself when researching a topic. I found the following in a recent article on the uses of ethnography in virtual environments:

Took a gamble and got a refurbished 30 GB OCZ Vertex 1 off of NewEgg for the low, low price of $30. Had some trouble getting the drive to be recognized by Windows or by my BIOS. Had to use a jumper...
It has been almost 6 months now and I am still waiting for the second peer-review report to come in for my next book (this one is on the future of television).
Things usually unfold faster than...
