Re: The real "First Impressions" Topic
I shot one in the ass last night and it didn't seem to do too much. I hit it right in the back, probably need to find the exhaust or something.

Re: The real "First Impressions" Topic
The commo rose slightly exists, you can still spot things but you will end up shooting a bullet or two off to get it done. Same goes for any context sensitive commo rose actions, like requesting ammo from those lazy assault players. So far this is still very much a beta and unpolished. I hope they can up the performance some more to make it more accessible for everyone. This game is still very much up in the air, I hope DICE can bring it to a stable release.

Re: The real "First Impressions" Topic
Well, how many non Valve games you purchase off steam can you join a friends game in mp from the friends list? None that I own.
Ya, this one is the most inexcusable to me, are server browsers new technology that should be expected to be buggy? C'mon4. Play Now -> Random server. More often than not, I am placed in some server across the world. Peru, France, Germany, Russia to name a few. Eventually I found enough US servers to favorite them for now.
Well, to be fair they have said dx9 is basically minimum requirements, you probably are getting a straight console experience graphically and I'm sure they don't get to mess with things like AA or AF.5. Graphics: To not support AA on DX9 was a big surprise for me. I cant believe this isnt possible. I am going to try to force AA via settings.ini config file in My Documents tomorrow to see if that works. Also, the game is not optimized. I know it runs fine for some people, but this game isnt even close to Modern Warfare 2's smoothness of gameplay. I am not sure if they can polish this up by March.
thanks for reminding me about this, the sounds are indeed wonky. sometimes the background sounds are incredibly loud when they shouldn't be, and sometimes there are no background sounds when there should be.6. Sound: Sounds seem fine, but there this constant buzzing noise I get for some reason. I am sure others get this too, because it only occurs when this game is running, and is in the background at all times (most audible when at the menu).

Re: The real "First Impressions" Topic
oh the sound! I actually was REALLY impressed with the sound. MUCH more immersive than... well other BF titles... though that's a pretty low bar.

Re: The real "First Impressions" Topic
My opinion is that it definitely has potential. Its a beta, its suppose to be unfinished, unpolished and have bugs. I don't judge it on what it is so much as I look at it on what it could be.
Some things that I like are the limited clip size of ammo, The classes and unlock progression, I like the no UCB camping and I really, really like the destructible environment. There are some things that I am not crazy about, but you never know what changes they will make between now and the release so I don't get to worked up about it.

QFT but I'd take it a step further and say let's try to shy away from making comparisons to other TG titles to avoid both disappointment and tunnel vision. By tunnel vision I mean only seeing and focusing on the similarities to other titles and not seeing the game as a whole.

Re: The real "First Impressions" Topic
I've had the VOIP working in and outside of squads actually, but since things are a bit sketchy still i have no conclusions.

Re: The real "First Impressions" Topic
So far i love it. I experienced playing in a tight squad just a while ago and it was pretty epic. Voip worked fine for us. Cant wait to see what its gonna be like with a full server of TG guys and gals or Saitcho in a Tank.

Re: The real "First Impressions" Topic
Graphics and sound are very good, lot of lag and warping (rubberbanding) which is expected. Appears to be a dream for snipers. The in-game browser can cause a crash but works sometimes. I have yet to here anyone on voip but that could be by chance. Needs someone work on the controls because it seems to not be in love with joysticks and vehicles. It is fun to play once the lag disapates. Weapons are nice though and reloading for the assault rifles and sniper rifles is faster than 2142. I wonder if they have given themselves enough time to iron out the bugs as EA doesn't have a stirling reputation for doing such quickly.
