    As awesome as that would be, TG really does have enough people to fill two normal servers. I'd love it, but I'd rather have another normal server.

    Same as ASCH, but agree I prefer have the Minimap on since that is a huge help when running around as a medic.

    1) Mixed mode standard (non-HC)
    Same as we have today.

    2) Mixed mode standard (non-HC)
    This would basically be the hardcore features with the non-hardcore damage.

    * Friendly Fire - ON
    * Killcam - OFF
    * Minimap - ON
    * Crosshair - OFF
    * 3D Spotting - OFF
    * Minimap Spotting - OFF
    * Third Person Vehicle Cameras - OFF

    3) Mixed mode HC
    Same as we have today.

    Yes! I'm glad you said it!

    I don't know what our options are. I don't know what things we can individually turn on or off.
    Here are my $0.02 on each:

    + FF - ON. should always be on for a TG BF server.
    + Hardcore damage - ON. TG BF servers should always be running hardcore damage.
    + Minimap - ON. This helps compensate for lack of situational awareness (SA) since you're looking thru a monitor, etc. Without it, it's REALLY hard to keep track of your squad mates.
    + 3d-spotting - OFF. It's usually not too bad, and helps make up for the fact that you can't *point* to show your squadmate where you saw someone. But there are times when you can spot someone behind trees without having *ANY* actual visibility to him.
    + Conquest/rush - MIX. It's nice to get a variety without having to switch servers
    + Killcam - OFF. Having it on is actually a nice way to help people who are just starting... but it's just not worth telling the enemy where the shot came from.
    + Squad spawn-cam - ON. ON. ON. OMG, ON!!!!! - This is critical to getting a good SA just before you spawn, and knowing whether you even *want* to spawn in on that squadmate.
    + Crosshairs - ON. It's still a game. Turn 'em on. Besides, it's a balance point with snipers. They don't have a crosshair unless zoomed, but they have a huge range and accuracy advantaged when they *are* zoomed.

    Additional note on Minimap and 3D-spotting:
    Hey, this is really critical. If you take away *both* of these, you take away 25% of the Recon class' effectiveness. I mean, that's what he's really good at. If his team can't see 3d-spots and the don't have a minimap, then his spotting just doesn't make much difference if they have to read a map to see spotted enemies.

    See, one of the reasons that having HARDCORE damage ON is CRITICAL TO TG-STYLE PLAY is that it MAKES COVER IMPORTANT and it REDUCES RUN-N-GUN SUCCESS.
    When weapons are more quickly fatal, players have to take cover more and be more cautious. That is the only environment in which COVER FIRE MAKES A DIFFERENCE.
    Without it, phrases like PINNED DOWN and FLANK LEFT and FIRE SECTORS hold no meaning.
    With weak damage, it's possible to simply run in front of enemy fire and close on enemy positions. HOLDING GROUND becomes IMPOSSIBLE compared to TAKING GROUND. This leads to a deathmatch and whack-a-mole style gameplay that I'm sure most of us here at TG are pretty tired of.
    What we want is more tactical play where cover and flanking are critical tactics we use, and where a battlefront is more constant and maintained. Where it's really phreaking hard (not impossible, tho) to run past an enemy's front line and spawn a squad behind his carefully-maintained perimeter.

    Seriously, now - wouldn't you agree? Can I get a witness, brothers!?!?!?

    Re: Feedback requested: What would you like to see for server configuration?

    Coming from a viewpoint that's new to TG, I prefer normal mode over hardcore. Reason being, I like to have some sort of margin for error when playing. It'd be nice to run in between cover and not instantly die. I feel that with hardcore mode, although more "realistic", it rewards the player who has the quickest trigger finger than the player who can absorb a couple of bullets at the expense of being able to outsmart his opponent. While it's less real and places less emphasis on team tactics per se, to me it's more "fun" that goes back to the days of CS and what not.

    I tend to prefer rush since it feels more objective based, but I do appreciate the variety of playing conquest as well.

    As for other game options:
    - Friendly Fire: INDIFFERENT. I guess I prefer on to make players more conscious instead of spraying randomly.
    - Hardcore Damage: OFF, for the reasons stated above
    - Minimap: ON. To me, it's been a part of the battlefield series for as long as I've played. It helps classes do their jobs better (helps assault find teammates with low ammo, helps medics find injured and incapacitated teammates, helps engies recognize vehicles in need of repairs, pretty much essential for the recons use of the recon ball).
    - 3D spotting: ON. Again, another hallmark of the battlefield series... it's always been around (since BF2, at least). Spotting pretty much adds to the teamwork. Without spotting, the recon's ability to contribute to the team is very limited.
    - Killcam: ON. I don't mind it off, but having it on discourages snipers from camping, plus it gives me something to watch while I await respawn.
    - Squad Spawn-Cam: ON. I always assumed this was tied to kill cam, but if it isn't I would love to have this on for every server. I hate spawning on a squad mate, which based on what little information I have, appears to be safe, only to spawn and die within seconds.

    The only problem I have (and others have I'm sure), and have had since launch with HC damage is that of sniper rifles, everything else I'm cool with. I just can't stomach the OSOK anywhere, and before anyone comes back with "it ought to it's a .50cal", the HMG's are supposedly .50cal as well and it still takes a couple/few/several rounds from them to put someone down. And if one round from a 7.62 sniper rifle kills, then so should one round from my 7.62 LMG or rifle. Yep, I know the same caliber hypocrisy applies to normal damage settings, but it's so much more noticeable in HC.

    to clear a few things up:

    - Hardcore damage is only available in HC mode - which cannot be altered at ALL.
    - Spawn-cam is tied to death-cam... turn it on and you get both.
    - Three kinds of spotting exist: 1) 3d spotting = red-triangles-of-doom (can turn on/off) 2) minimap-spotting (can turn on/off) 3) main map spotting (always on)

    Re: Feedback requested: What would you like to see for server configuration?

    Given that:
    1) I'd rather have minimap and spotting and spawn-cam than HC damage. Pffffft!!!!
    2) I'd rather have BOTH cams then neither.
    3) 3d-spotting off. Minimap on with spotting.

    But then, there must always be one hardcore server. (Cuz occasionally we all need to get that fix.)

    I also would love to see Death/Spawn cam on. The Death cam is a great learning tool for the "less skilled players" (like me) and the SA received from the Spawn cam would be invaluable. I also would vote to have them both on.

    I don't want to see the spawn/death cam on. It sucks to get good position on the enemy only to have them know your location once you get a kill. Make them work for it and find you. That lost time can really help your team.

    I like the spotting system just as it is. I think it is great and would hate to see it removed.

    Looking forward to the timer for the round starts, that should be a huge helper.

    I have this problem as well, OSOK is no fun at all and I haven't set foot in the HC server since a few days after release. (I've also noticed that the HC server is generally the most empty)

    Even as an advocate of HC I can understand the frustration of getting sniped and being totally unable to fight back.

    But for me that's just a greater incentive to move in and out of cover, and avoiding open spaces as much as possible.

    I find it infinitely more frustrating on normal servers where through superior positioning I get the jump on my opponent, and they are able, through lag/faulty hit detection/greater damage soak are able to whip around and kill me.

    Likewise I find a lot of frustration in the gamey-ness of having to go with Shotgun + magnum, or running around with 40 mm or AT weapons out as a default to just be able to get a reliable kill.

    At least in HC guns feel dangerous, flanking maneuvers and cover/suppressive fire are more effective. Vehicles are likewise scary, even Bradley or BMD3 means having to take cover, in normal it's like "Oh, well, I'll just run through it's FOV and cross the street, good chance I'll survive"

    In normal half the time I feel like I'm in a warzone with a BB gun.

    On topic I really like the thought of Server 2 being normal damage but with everything else on hardcore settings (no minimap, 3d spotting, crosshair, etc)

    I generally like what we have now. Two mixed mode servers with FF=on, kill cam= Off. I have never tried HC. I would rather keep those servers mixed but one weighted for Rush and one weighted for Conquest and have side switching.

    I have mixed feelings about the death cam. I don't think it helps too much tell what spot some one is camping. And the benefits of seeing who you're spawning in on is just way too important to me.
