Thirsty Dog Siberian Night
This is a "Russian Imperial Stout" with a 9.0% alcohol rating. It's a winter seasonal release and still currently available. It's a very dark beer, with almost no hint of coloring even when held up to the light. The aroma hints at being slightly bitter. I drank two of these and couldn't get a sense of the beer other than perhaps some distant chocolate. It poured thick (almost like a thin syrup) with almost n

Great Lakes Blackout Stout
This is a "Russian Imperial Stout" with a 9.0% alcohol rating. It's a winter seasonal release and still currently available. It's a very dark beer, with hints of brown in the coloring. The aroma is strong of coffee (espresso perhaps) and roasted malt.
The taste is complex: First off there is a deep chocolaty flavor which is followed up by the taste of roast coffee. Some traces of fruit are detectable,

Dogfish Head 90-Minute IPA
This is an American Double / Imperial IPA with a 9.0% alcohol rating. It is available year-round. It has a beautiful clear copper color that may be poured with little to no head, depending on who is pouring. It has a strong floral smell, with a little tart fruit laced in it: Grapefruit and dried apricot.
The taste is definitely hoppy, but the malt is detectable too. It has a slightly bit

The taste is exquisite: dark chocolate, caramel, malts, apple, and spices with a creamy texture. The alcohol is hardly n

This is a rant. You have been warned.
At last! At long last! Microsoft appeared to to have gotten their act together and implemented a very functional Firewall Client in Windows Vista. No longer should corporate entities (and their IT Client Engineers, such as myself) have to struggle with third-party vendor's and their poorly managed addons, additional licensing costs, and terrible support. Now we can push firewall policies down to workstations via Group Policy, assign OU's unique configura

Right. So I was supposed to be on a three day/two night tour through Shenandoah Nat'l Park. Supposed to be. A few factors kicked in that I wasn't prepared for and couldn't anticipate which caused me to shave off that third day:- Spotting five bears in the first two and a half hours
- Not sleeping well due to the 90 degree heat index at 11:00pm
- Realizing there is no water source for nine miles or more on the last loop of the trip But hey, there's a silver lining in everything. As a result

Life on Inactive Reserve: Inactive Activity 1

A week ago or so I made the request to be placed on inactive reserve with the 3rd Special Forces so that I can be more focused on some other aspects of life in the near future without dropping any commitments.
So my first activity while 'inactive' is coming up this weekend: Three days/Two nights solo in the backcountry of Shenandoah Nat'l Park.
To say the least, I'm excited about it. I spent much of the winter acquiring some new gear and just this week blew a few bucks getting the last li
