After 47+ hours playing this game, which is a lot for me, and I'd eventually scratch the surface of the depth that this game has. Less than 5 of your videos watched, and it's like you popped the top off of this puppy and showcased just how deep this game really is. Thanks for sharing, and your boy Syker is the sickest f**king pilot ever. To quote my younger cousins, "That dudes a BEAST" or whatever the kids are saying now... you get the idea... anyway.

Seeser comment struck me as quite true -- BF3 is really quite a 'deep' game. I think many people do play it at a very shallow level -- alone, without voice comms, without mature players, and mostly just for points. There is so much more to the game -- teamwork, tactics, strategies, communication, command, and vision.

My vision is that I am not made for the game, but the game is made for me. With the help of my squad mates and the TG Admins (who keep the servers clean and mature) I transform the game into an experience that is outside of the norm of run 'n gun.

I game the game.

My squad becomes my weapon.

So for those of you that don't know, I'm right now in the college audtion process to study next year as a Music Education Major with a focus on euphonium (my instrument). Of course, as a prospective music major, I have to do a lot more than just submit the paper application and sit around and twiddle my thumbs until the envelopes and emails roll in.

No, I have to audition.

So here's a quick recap of my second and third auditions which I spent at Northwestern University and University of Wisconsin-Madison respectively.

I flew up to the region on Thursday after United cancelled my original flight that morning. I then went through the ultimate hassle of getting my 11k custom hand-made instrument through security, and on to the plane in the passenger compartment (it's quite large and the case has an unwieldy shape). After a lot of convincing and a bit of tears (the secret weapon), the instrument (named Vera, yes, a Firefly reference) was sucessfully placed in the 1st class coat closet for transit.

My audition at Northwestern went AMAZINGLY. The prof. stopped me after playing less than 30 seconds and told me I passed his audition and I was playing wonderfully, so the rest of the time transitioned into a lesson. And that was my most competitive school! ;)

Next, drove up to Madison and had a full day ahead of me. Piano placement, music theory test, info sessions, audition, lesson, and dinner with the prof! All which went extremely well.

It's funny, being a good musician makes my college applications like being a football star. I'm being utterly serious. If you've ever seen Blind Side, it's like that, but I don't have the risk of traumatic brain injury. It's great. Dined and courted by schools and professors, what a wonderful way to choose which university to attend!

Two auditions to go!

If you have any ideas or find bugs, you can report it in our request tracker.

High Detailed and "Secret" Weapon Information
In cooperation with a very good weapon database called symthic.com we are able to serve you stunning new information about every weapon. Now you really get all available details for every weapon. Accuracy plots and charts give this feature a amazing finish.

Inline Youtube Videos
Some users wanted a more "epic-looking" forum post, platoon or profile presentation. One thing we did for you was to replace all Youtube links with the embedded player. Now you can view the videos instantly.

User Radar
Everybody hates cheaters and hackers. From now on, you can avoid them on the battlefield. We are proud to present a feature that warns you before you join a server. Mark anybody via the new "radar" button and you will see a notification above the "joining server"-button if one of your marked users is currently playing on that server. Share your list with your friends or other users to increase your possibilities to play on clean servers.
NOTE: This is your own personal radar, you have to fill the list, because this is not a global option that communicates with other cheater or ban lists.

Server Radar
Use the radar feature not only for users, but as well for servers. As in the user radar, you will be warned if you try to join a marked server.
NOTE: This is your own personal radar, you have to fill the list, because this is not a global option that communicates with other cheater or ban lists.

Known Bugs, minor Improvements
In Battlelog exist some bugs that are not fixed, though huge systems never are perfect. We fixed some minor and major bugs in Battlelog with our addon since they do get annoying sometimes. Still, it is not the focus of this addon to bug-fix Battlelog.

Contextmenu (Right-Click)
Well, every mouse should actually have a right button. Why shouldn´t we use it? In some parts of Battlelog, we added a contextmenu which improves your browsing experience especially for bblog´s own features. In the BBLog menu or by the shortcut CTRL + SHIFT + M you can highlight all areas which offer the right-click ability. More information here

BBCode Support
Most older boards and also some new ones have a BBCode support. This gives you the ability to easy format text in posts with predefined codes. Battlelog also support some bbcodes, but they give you nowhere the information how it works. We found the supported codes and integrate a easy to use interface to format your text.

Favorite Threads
This feature extends battlelog with a favorite thread list. Now you able to see on one place all you currently relevent board threads. It's very frustrating to search all the threads again and again, now you have time for more important things. Hope you enjoy it.

Last night I did a little bit of thinking about ACTA, SOPA, PIPA and the DMCA. I started to feel overly disgusted with the MPAA, RIAA and their affiliated labels and studios. I felt disgusted with the way that our politicians are bought and sold with lobbying dollars by the industry. Then I had a horrible realization; I helped fund these very things that I despise. I helped fund the studios and thereby the industry associations through my media purchasing history. For every dollar I spent buying media, most of that was going to line the pockets of the industry.

I used to be a HUGE movie fan. Going back over a decade I would buy DVDs like they were gold bars being sold at half-price. I subscribed to the Columbia House DVD club and let them send me their movie of the month, every months for YEARS. I was buying batches of movies 5-8 at a time from various online retailers. I have spent TENS OF THOUSANDS of dollars on movies and by proxy, delivered this money to the very people who now treat me like a criminal and assume that I'm just a "freetard" because I don't support the legislation that the industry purchased from our politicians.

Penance is in order….

I have several hundred movies on DVD, all purchased legitimately. I have another hundred DVDs full of box-sets of TV shows that I really enjoyed. So we're talking about a LOT of media here.

Here's the real question: What can I do with all this media that will allow more people to view and enjoy it WITHOUT putting further dollars in the pockets of those who buy our politicians and expect them to act AGAINST the wishes of the population to benefit corporations? I thought about selling the whole collection on eBay to give someone else the opportunity to view all this content without purchasing; but there has GOT to be a better way…..

I have no interest in making money with this media transfer. I simply want to allow others to view and enjoy the content in a manner that does NOT support these industry shills. With that in mind; I started thinking about donating it all to a local library. With that sort of donation, a HUGE population of people will have the opportunity to view the content without additional expense and I'll feel good about it in the process.

This is going to happen one way or another, I just want to make sure I'm getting the most bang for my buck.

UPDATE: It's done. I just returned from the library and had a GREAT conversation with the people there. Not only do they understand and support the opposition to legislation like SOPA and PIPA, but they really appreciated what I was doing for them and the community in terms of making this content available to those who may not be able to view it otherwise.

The backups I made of my DVDs on my media server are also gone now as well. Format completed.

I've said before that E-Male's vids do have interesting qualities so long as you critically appraise them and take only what is of use to you. I'm glad to see that E-Male is, at very least, finding a game mode where his esoteric, essentially roleplaying, style and the objectives of the game overlap. I've also said before that it's great that people are thinking about this game and how it's played. If their ideas suck then it is of no import, it's driven by the same impulse as that Symthic chap (whose contribution to our understanding of the technical environment we game in is singular) and it's that willingness to produce content and contribute that keeps a game alive. Thinking communities mean there's still fortunes of people playing and enjoying the original X-COM and the like. -- locksymania

While E-Male's squad makes mistakes and it's easy to point these out, the basic concept is right.

Take control of the majority of flags (I know this is one mistake in the video) and defend this, if the cross-squand management is right, other squads can go on raids to take other flag to push the ticket loss, but you have to keep the majority of flags to win.

This is the basic concept for all battles, take ground and keep it, basics of war since sticks and stones.

However this doesn't make for super fast stat gain and gets you a 101 Colonel, so to aid the willy wavers you see a roaming COD battle where large groups of people fight over one or two flags until someone gets bored and runs to another flag and a load of sheep follow, loop.

To those giving alternatives, great, I support the use of a recon in this squad in this position, but along side a support for suppression, suppression will hold targets for the recon. This is all good for the long range of this position. I also agree they left the back door to open as their line of fire was too focussed to the steps and water. Took so long for the opposition to run a jeep through there!

But don't knock E-Males tactics completely, he's showing what they tried, how many teams take this and improve on it, it's building blocks, top blocks rely on the bottom blocks.

To those mocking and not suggesting, nothing but troll feeders. Worse than trolls.

While BF3 is not Arma3 it's also not MW3. Play the tactics not your stats. -- mahatmadango

I've harped on this before and it's time I bring it up again.

If you're feeling sad all of the time, the things you enjoy are losing their luster, you don't want to hang out with your friends, you don't want to even talk to your friends, you start feeling hopeless or you feel empty, seek out professional help.

I've suffered with depression for a long time. I was raised with the family mindset of, everyone can benefit from therapy at some point in their life. I realize it may seem like I don't have room to talk since I've been suffering from depression for a long time even though I've been in therapy for a long time. However, most people respond well to therapy and medications (if needed). For most people it's a temporary bump in an otherwise happy existence. For me, I think I let it get too far along and didn't do anything about it. I can't begin to tell you how far I fell, how close I came to doing something really stupid. If you can, do NOT let it get to that point for you. Get help sooner rather than later.

Don't think something catastrophic has to have happened to you for you to be depressed. Some of us just didn't learn effective or good ways to deal with the stress in our lives. Me personally, nothing major has ever happened to send me spiraling into depression. I have issues with my boss, I have a poor self image, I have no confidence, I see myself as a bad person even though I only try to help other people. None of those are something each of you have had to deal with, I just can't get past those issues and they go around and around in my head until I've convinced myself that my friends don't really like me and are laughing at what I say behind my back, that my wife doesn't really love me despite what she says and I could go on an on. I just don't want to ever see any of you have to get to this point before you get help.

And yes, the reason I'm posting this is because I have hit another low point in my depression, the world looks horrible and all I want to do is withdraw and never talk to anyone again, which is why I made myself post this.

The definition of crazy is doing the same thing over and over again, expecting different results.

I have been posting videos to Battlelog and the response has been quite interesting. The comments indicate how many players just do not get that there is more than one viable way to play the game. The comments also reveals the degree to which "Aesthetic intolerance can be terribly violent", as Pierre Bourdieu once noted.

There is often witnessed a hatred towards that which is different.

No matter.

Battlelog forums are very useful for mapping the culture of online gaming. Here is the video I most recently posted there and some of the comments from the thread.

lol, here we go again...I admire your persistance to try and convince everyone your tactics work, E-male.

Just a disclaimer for everyone who will respond:

E-MALE DOES NOT PLAY TO WIN THE ROUND. HE AND HIS TEAM ONLY PLAY TO CAPTURE AND HOLD A PARTICULAR FLAG.

this guy is possibly the best forum troll I have ever come across. well done jackass!! :)

Many may not believe me but E-Male has improved his game.He is actively defending 3 flags as opposed to the single flag in other videos. Not only that but this time he defended against a real attack and was in multiple gunfights.Your aim is also improving E-Male,nice job on burst firing that MAV and taking it down so quickly and taking out that VDV gunner.

Well actually that wasnt so bad, you and your team did a great job defending for a long time, even if you dont kill that much you understand how and where to defend, it sucks when you lose those points across the river.

I'm sorry but he is failing at this game. He'd rock at ArmA but here it's BF3

Good strategy on paper although you won, the enemy did manage to break your defence and take the flag across the water at Gulf I think, again Recon may have worked if you deployed the Soflam in an optimal area looking down and towards the train track and the Alpha and Charlie. You should of had someone covering the other side of the train tracks you were on to prevent enemies from advancing from that side which did happen with the fast mover. You were eventually pushed back to the Foxtrot though which means your strategy for preventing the enemy from attacking Gulf and Foxtrot failed.

The only real problem was a "fast-mover" made it with ease to Golf. Im sure next time you'll plan better for that potential situation.

I did like your use of the jeep (rarely used in that manner) and how your team adapted to postitions covering Foxtrot to prevent an overrun from Golf.

Whatevs to the naysayers and keep having fun your way. Wish I could play more passive like that but the games Im in always require me to be capping like a mad man.

And one of my personal favorites . . .

You know what's worst about this whole business? He reminds me of my dad. Stubborn, playing with tactics and able to have fun in a game where he's definitely not a star player. Not by trolling, but by playing the way he wants to play. Still, as long as he has fun I suppose it's all cool - after all, no one is forced to follow his advice. Or join the servers he plays on.

I just don't like how he brushes off criticism, removes negative posts from his youtube page, or constantly claiming his tactics work when it appears as though they hurt the team more than help the team.

On another note this video is an improvement from his previous ones.

It did not work as in that the strategy and goal was to prevent the enemy from attacking Gulf and Foxtrot, which they did.

Biting off a bigger chunk of the map is definitely a step in the right direction and they get in plenty of firefights to show that covering the area was worthwhile. Their position held that section against multiple attacks and when the buggy got through they isolated the flag. Had they not been there that whole back section might have been ninja'd before anyone even noticed.

Looks, lets just give the guy some encouragement this time, he did something much better than before, a step in the right direction.

Too much focus on the infantry incoming from the hill, while the bridge is entirely unguarded. Which led to the failure to hold the crossing. First, E-male himself could have used a sniper kit, since he works long range all the time, and is serving as a spawn point. Snipers have, well, sniper rifles and the radio spawn point. Support has nothing in regard to both roles. Second, mine the goddamn bridge and the river crossing. This would prevent both jeeps from entering the defended flags.

Still I think it's an improvement in regard to the previous videos. Although the incoming infantry were clearly rather disorganized, a communicating squad with multiple spawn points in the area has no difficulty at all. Your position could have been blown away by a single decent sniper on the hill near the US base. People camping in jeeps always make juicy targets. The same issue with a half decent IFV driver going along the hill and then the river bank, you were totally unprepared for that (again, mines).

A big plus plus the great communication and teamwork, but I still find that you are too passive. I'd like to see the well organized squad of yours move up and attack.

I don't think anyone could argue with the way E-male played and led during this game. For once (no offense E-Male) his tactics were perfectly suited for the gametype.

I've learned the true purpose of these tactics.

All you need to do, is join the server he tries them on, and repeatedly take out his squad. They all hang within 50m of each other, hardly move at all and are really easy to take out.

It's the perfect way to get squad wipe ribbons. Got 4 just this afternoon. My favourite was when they were all hanging on that hill almost all stationary near B on Wake trying to stinger jets. Big fail, and so, so, so easy to take out.

Trick is finding them though, 'cos they usually hang at the back of it all, so you've gotta sneak past the rest of his team.

And not a bad job done either, best yet actually :D Still don't agree with your play style, but props are deserved none the less.

I can safely say that your unit did actually have an affect on the outcome of the round, considering you held off three or four waves of attacks on the flags your were defending. I know they got through in the end, but that's the nature of the game. You didn't sit back and do nothing about it, you mounted a full on assault. Yep very good round, well done E-Male and crew.
Bought new keyboard that has extra keys on left side and mapped radio channels in ARMA-2 (and PR mod) to own push buttons. Now it is possible to keep group channel on all the time and if need to use for example "Command Channel" I just have to push S4 and start speaking. No more channel surfing during bullet dance. Did not map "Global channel" on those keys though so no accidental Global Channel spamming.

It is also possible to write macros to those "S" keys, and there is also macro record function on software that was included. It is possible to write macros also during game because there is macro record button.

This keyboard model is Microsoft Sidewinder X4.
Cons so far:
-Extra keys make me put my fingers one key to the left sometimes and makes me write typos.
-Shiny, collects fingerprints.
-Macro making on software is not so good. Had to map numpad buttons to those macro keys to make them work properly.

Other than that feels ok to write and has those extra keys that Arma and some other games need.

I've been thinking about making my first blog for a while now, so decided to go with my other hobby....

-Smith & Wesson M&P15 lower - standard four position stock

-Red-X Arms complete upper (including bolt and carrier) .750 16" barrel 1/9 RH twist - The screws for the gas key on the bolt carrier weren't staked, but other than that I've no complaints.

-Aimpoint CompM4s - My first Aimpoint, and what can I say other than optics are one of those things you just plain get what you pay for, this thing is a beast. I went with the 4s as I wanted the lower battery compartment, AA battery, and ringless mount. Aimpoint also claims a 500,000 hour life on a single battery. You gotta love those Swedes.

-Hogue Monogrip - I've got Hogue grips on a couple pistols and just love the feel of them, this one is no different. The fire selector switch rubbed on it however and required a little modification with an xacto knife. (see pic below)

-Magpul angled foregrip - I personally find it more comfortable than vertical grips.

-Magpul MBUS flip-up front and rear sights - spring loaded and very lightweight.

-Noveske KX3 flash suppressor - This is probably my most controversial choice. It's design intent was initially for short barrels, but has become popular for longer ones as well. It's flash suppression capability is great, but at 7.2 ounces and 3" long it had damn well better be, it's a real pig. (It's even got a picture of one on the side of it) Part of the reason I chose it was discussions I read that it's design directed noise forward away from the shooter, and that the added weight up front helped negate recoil. I haven't noticed much improvement in either over the standard A2 hider. The jury is still out on this one, I may go with a Battlecomp or Vortex

I've only put a few hundred rounds through the rifle, but has performed flawlessly thus far.

Sorry for the low quality pics, one day I'll get a decent camera.
ok matey, but how fun is it to just "drive around" on a FPS game ?!?! I got bored of watching after 2mins, can't imagine playing like that....plus you'll get very few points ?!?!....what I do honestly is just drive the jeep myself and then switch to the gun to shoot a heli down or kill enemies...later.

Amazing amount of patience. There's no way I could watch all those flags belong to the enemy. But I'd prob. end up getting killed running around lol.

a good squad can make or break the game. This was not so. All you did was defend (for the most part) uncontested points. That WOULD have been a smart thing to if that was where the enemy firepower was attempting to be, but it was all taking the other points.

Which is primarily why your team lost.

It is always curious to see blame laid on one squad for the whole team losing a round (odds are that many other factors are at work).

What comes across often in the feedback is an irrational understanding of cause and effect and commentary that presumes foreknowledge of what would of happened if other actions were taken.

Curious.
