How to un**** the BF franchise:

1. More punishments: Steal a dude's tank and drive off like a punk? -200 points. Ignore a revive as a medic? -100 points. Don't spot as a sniper? -100 points. Revive a fella, he gets killed, revive him again, he gets killed, revive him again? -500 points.
2. More rewards: Keep a random dude's tank repaired for a round? +200 points. Pull off 3 revives in a row? Every one is worth more points. Be the squad that breaks through and captures a flag? 2x points for capturing the flag.
3. More VOIP: proximity and direction-based VOIP (mumble), SL-to-SL VOIP, and CO-to-all VOIP.
4. More teamwork: require two people to revive one soldier up, require two people to operate stationary weapons, require a pilot and a gunner at least for armor, etc.
5. Bigger maps, bigger teams: 64vs64 player battlefield, with maps large enough to make fighter jets plausible.
6. Tit-for-tat tactics: Tank snipes from 200m and kills 2 people in one shot ... but if it's approached up close, its main turret turns way too slowly to do anything, and one infantry grenade shoved down the hatch kills the occupants. Stop nerfing things in order to make them fair: provide an effective counter instead of making a tank shell feel like a feather pillow.
7. Smoke, fire, water, heat, cold -- affecting the soldier: Cough in smoke, burn on fire, can't swim with certain weapons, freeze if carrying a light pack on a large snow map. Make soldiers real, not cardboard cutouts.
8. Add more "hardcore" server options: Option to mutiny the CO, option to disband squads as a CO, option to have only VOIP-enabled people in SL/CO positions ...
9. Defend flags: allow a squad to slowly dig and fortify a flag to make defense actually be feasible instead of always attacking.

10. Stop catering to everyone (multiple-platform release) and stop imitating other FPS games (MW2): make something unique, original, and fun.

#1 - So you can't find a dead soldier to revive-or like Hardcore no minimap so assist you, you should get punished. Be helpful and revive someone three times in a game, get punished more severely. Plus if you're going that far, why don't I ever seem to revive enemy soldiers when I zap the body on the ground???

#2 - I thought we go punished for reviving three times ?

#3 - I don't like too many voices in my head, when I hear a lot of noise the voices in my head tell me to do bad things.....I don't like the bad gunky.

#6 - because we wouldn't want to be "fair" to anyone would we?

#7 - I'd like to add dialog that's always new and refreshing even after playing for the equivilent of 4 months straight...OH with individualized voices, so EVERY voice is unique. and where are the women soldiers? and clothing options. I want to be a spy and dress as the enemy and spawn in their base.

    #8 - ...

In all seriousness, if you hate BC2 that much and want simulation, why not try ArmA2 or PR?

I don't "hate" BC2, and I don't want simualation. I just want a more indepth game. You don't need to sacrifice fun to provide depth.

Indeed, the points system is totally messed up. 80 points for capturing a flag? 100 points blowing up an almost impossible to arm m-com? Come on! I can get that reviving two people that will die again two seconds later. Or getting resupply/healing points equal to 100 in seconds. The slap on the wrist -15 point penalty for a TK is silly. Who cares about 15 points?

I think a cool way to do anti-armor points is to increase point gain to the RPG/C4 guy proportional to how many of his buddies have been killed by enemy tank. It might actually encourage people to spawn engineer instead of hoping someone else takes care of the problem. This proportion system would be pretty cool applied elsewhere too. More points for capping a long held enemy flag. More points for killing that sniper that has been killing a lot of your buddies and hasn't died all game.

Tracer darts need a buff. You get something lame like 20 points if your dart helped.

So with these changes, other classes besides medic can rack up decent points.

You only get 100 for an MCOM? I get 250.

BTW, why are we discussing points? If you're so worried about points you're playing the game wrong; at least how TG plays it. Points are inconsequential to tactics. You get points, yay. But that's not the point of doing actions. 1 point or 1 million points for taking a flag, the point is to take the damn flag.

Points can shape how people act. I remember one of the devs saying how they added +points in a BF game for revives, and all of a sudden people became Mother Theresa and that made the players in general happy.
People like points, and it makes them happy. By giving them points for smart things, and taking away points for troll-like things, you can mold the behaviour of an online community and create fun gameplay.

I think they key is in rewarding people ... maybe punishing isn't even the right thing to do, but simply stop giving them points when they've done something silly. I like BC2's method of "if you suicide to kill an MCOM, you lose all points." I really like that, and I wish it was more publicized/better explained, so that people would really understand it.

Also, whatever DICE does, I hope they don't take away throwable C4 packs. Fun fun fun

Yep, what Zhohar said. I'm looking for better play on pubbie servers as well, not just here on TG. Sometimes the server is full and you have to roll the dice and hope for the best on a random server. Besides, it never gets old seeing multipliers rack up on your screen.

    wat

Welcome to TG's number one gameshow, "Act like PR is the most boring thing ever without having played it!"
Pretty much everything you addressed (the important ones) is changed in PR for the better.

Good one Zho. Many of those points would make BC2 much more enjoyable. Although the punishments would radically change the game. Sometimes it's difficult to revive by yourself, much less exposing 2 players to do it.

I've never given PR much of a chance, but it's my fault that I never really liked it that much. I've never bothered to do much of the training, and the rounds where I've tried to play, I've gotten into a huge map, where I had to walk a few miles to get anywhere. I should try it again.
