    New today

It wasn't a patch. We just changed something with the way the executable was built. It has no effect on the gameplay.

    Via Press Release:

    FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

BREACH LAG REDUCED SIGNIFICANTLY IN PATCH

Patch Also Adds New Dedicated Server Features

Raleigh, North Carolina - February 8, 2011 /GameBlast/ - Atomic Games, a developer of simulations for US military and intelligence agencies and a pioneer in military action games, announced today the release of a new patch for the Windows PC version of Breach. A patch for other systems will be available soon.

This patch for the Windows PC version reduces lag significantly and also addresses issues some users reported in connecting to games, as well as a variety of other issues. Additionally, in response to requests from avid fans of the game, Atomic has added new features to the Breach Dedicated Server application.

New features added to the Breach Dedicated Server include:

    - Dedicated Server no longer requires Steam to be running

    - New feature allows configurable ports in Dedicated Server

    Fixes included in the patch:

    - All known crashes fixed

    - Many fixes to reduce lag

    - Network performance improved by more than 33%

    - Bug that caused Sole Survivor games to end in draw fixed

    - Bug that caused invisible canister in Retrieval games fixed

    - Bug that caused Vendetta icon to appear incorrectly fixed

    - Server Browser can now sort by number of players

    - Server Browser can now be manipulated with mouse scroll wheel

    - Fixed bugs related to Friendly Fire settings

    - Better ability for laggy game to recover when bandwidth improves

    - Dedicated Server stability significantly improved

Breach is unlike any other game. It is the first military shooter to use precise and massive destruction to change the very nature of multiplayer combat. Combined with an advanced cover system where players can use cover even while it is being destroyed around them, Breach enables real-world tactics never possible before now. Breach offers this destruction and active cover system all in a package that costs less than any of its compeitors.

Breach is available for $19.99, or less, on Windows PC through major retailers nationwide, Steam®, and Direct2Drive®. It has been rated "T" for Teen by the ESRB. Further intelligence can be gathered at www.breachgame.com.

So....all I want to know is - is this game playable yet? If not, what do I need to do to make it so? I bought it. It looks to be the best thing since BF2. I really want to play it. However, I point and click. All this stuff about server ports and optimizing shaders and doohhickey whatnotsagigabidgets is just gobbledygook to me.

First, may I point out Tango that you invariably and presumeably randomly decided to post at 1:11 your time! AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

With that out of the way, I don't think it's 100% playable yet. I was still having trouble logging on to some servers 2 nights ago, getting the endless loading screen. I did end up getting into one, and played for a little bit, but saw some lag issues with rubber banding players. Now, as I reported in our IHS forum a few days ago, the last time I played previous to this instance it was great, with no lag issues. So it seems very hit or miss at this point.

thanks for the heads-up, Big, but was that with the most current patch? It looks like that was released yesterday (the 8th), or so it seems. (good catch on the 111, too! Totally random!! ... as everyone else says,"what?")

It may not have been with the most current patch, I can't keep up on what was released when and all that. Hehe. I'll try firing it up again tonight or tomorrow and see what happens.

    Re: New today

I played for about an hour tonight. Really didn't see much lag or anything. I did notice that I suck though. LOL

I did have some weird issues when I tried joining a couple of servers though. I would refresh my server list, find one that was 14 or 15 players out of 16, and when I loaded in, I was the only one there. I started thinking that maybe the server had filled up, so for some reason the game was creating a new lobby for me. So I tried joining a few that were 16 out of 16, and the same thing happened. If I picked servers that had a couple extra slots available, I'd join and the other players would be there.
