This game is very fun. While it felt a little slow at first, once I figured out how to use the SMART system I began flying around the maps. Sliding behind cover and blasting around corners. This game actually enforces team work to the point that lone wolfs wont last long no matter how good you think you are.
The SMART system is a very different aspect of gaming. No more large targets running down halls, people were sliding and jumping over and around cover sometimes WHILE shooting.
I can't say enough good things about the several hours I just spent playing with John and Centron. It was fun with only 3 TG'ers. I can only imagine what it will be like with entire teams. If you dont have this game yet, you need to go and get it. It freaking rocks!
So is Brink a genuine teamwork game at its core ? or is it a game that we can bring talking teamwork to ? (if you understand the difference)
Also, is there ingame voip and does it work ? (almost scared to ask that question - frontlines - BC2 - etc etc)
Brink is a genuine teamwork game, with the buffing, the need for different classes, teams that lone wolf or going to get stomped so hard. In game voip does work, however the volume levels are all out of whack so I couldn't here anyone over the game. I don't know if this is limited to me or now. I'll try and have a review up by the end of the day.
You can't have any sacred cows if you want to make a really great game. Unless you're making a game about killing sacred cows. That's okay. Matt Higby
Also the servers have to have it enabled. When I get home I will make sure the TG server has the applicable settings tweaked. But yes ES, this game is a TG game even before TG players get on. The need for teamwork is so significant that even pubs are working in teams. It's simply awesome.

try lowering the volume of general game sounds and also out of game in steam, goto steam / settings / voice and put receive volume to max (this is incase somehow brink uses steam codec for ingame voip)
Just hopped on the game for about 30 minutes and had very "chugging" gameplay. That is the best I can explain it.
I did a little reading and found out that there are currently issues with the game and ATI cards doing this. I also drop to about 2fps when on the server browser screen (another issue people are having). There is supposedly going to be a fix coming soon, but I have heard updating your drivers to 11.5a has fixed the issue for some with ATI cards. We'll wait and see.
The gameplay looks fun and I am sure the graphics will look amazing once a fix comes out.
Haven't had a ton of time to play thus far but I have a Radeon HD 4850 so I'm encountering the dreaded ATI problems. I definitely see lots of potential, just that my experience isn't real good at the moment.
Downgraded from the 11.5a drivers to 11.3 as they were giving me nothing but trouble. Between that and setting everything to medium, occlusion off and shadows off via the console command I've at least got it playable but I almost want to wait for the ATI situation to get resolved before putting much more time into it. I know it should look and play better then it is and I don't want to frustrate myself into not giving it a fair chance.
Bag I had the same problem, I updated to the latest drivers and it cleared up a bunch you might want to check it up.
John - I just updated to the latest drivers, etc. and it seems to have gotten worse. Definitely something on their end they need to fix. I am still getting about 2 FPS when I go into the server browser screen and in game is sluggish.
The game seriously looks like a blast though. I have been running around shooting as best I can for a few minutes. Waiting for the update...
**Update: This may help some people having issues until a fix comes out:
1) Add this line to your Brink launch options via Steam +com_allowconsole 1
2) When in game, hit your ~ key and type the command r_shadows 0
This boosted my FPS significantly. I guess the issue is Brink has a bug with ATI cards and having shadows enabled.
Hmm. I haven't had a single ATI related problem *knocks on wood* I'm glad to see more and more people playing though. We had to add an extra server (or two) just to make room for everyone
Wait so is the TG server up? I tried to connect to it all night but the connection would time out.

Is it better than Breach, the last crapfest bandwagon I jumped on?
I'm a little worried that it's going to get a tad stupid people jumping and sliding etc everywhere instead of normal movement. I know it's big part of the game, I just don't want to see it everywhere.

Bravo Microsoft, you have now surpassed EA in poor decisions and once and for all seized the crown for the worst 'Reveal' ever. That EA were standing there on the stage with you when you did it was...

It is not often that I encounter across myself when researching a topic. I found the following in a recent article on the uses of ethnography in virtual environments:

Took a gamble and got a refurbished 30 GB OCZ Vertex 1 off of NewEgg for the low, low price of $30. Had some trouble getting the drive to be recognized by Windows or by my BIOS. Had to use a jumper...
