Re: Two BFG 7800GTX OC 256s
What kind of PSU do you need to run both of those cards in SLI? I doubt my 500W will cut it.

A mere 500W? Pshshs... Go big or go home

There's a few 500W units on the SLI approved list.Battlefield Admin(BF2 Rules) (BF2142 Rules)

Re: Two BFG 7800GTX OC 256s
After what I thought was a power supply issue some time ago I dropped the money on a PC Power and Cooling Turbo-Cool 510 Express/SLI. Oddly enough it isn't on the list Perry linked... but it works great. Of course I pulled out my backup drives and installed them in another pc.

The BFG site says (verbatim for the 7800GTX OC 256 as well as the 7900GTX OC 512):
"NOTE: For two GeForce 7900 GTX-based graphics cards running in NVIDIA SLI configurations, a minimum 500W system power supply (with 12V rating of 34A) is recommended. Visit www.slizone.com for more information."
I'm sporting 510 watts and 34A (peak 38A) on the 12v rail atm.
If your rig isn't all full of power hungry stuff and you have the amps you could run SLI on a 500w.

Re: Two BFG 7800GTX OC 256s
Update:
One card is gone for sure.
One still available atm.
This is an ideal deal for someone who already has one BFG GTX card on an SLI capable board.

Re: Two BFG 7800GTX OC 256s
Yeah it's not so much the wattage of the PSU as it is the quality. A good 500W will work much better than a crappy PSU rated at anything.

Re: Two BFG 7800GTX OC 256s
If I only had a job and an extra $400 lying around. I need a second 7800GTX.
Dammit!!
At any rate, consider this a bump for a good deal.

Re: Two BFG 7800GTX OC 256s
Hehe, you don't "need" a 7800GTX. You "need" food, water, shelter, and an Internet connection faster than 56k. A second 7800GTX is beyond even "luxury" into the realm of "excessive" or "if I had that much money to throw around I would play the stock market and get rich."

Re: Two BFG 7800GTX OC 256s
*sigh*
I am in no way rich.
Lots of people have gone SLI and aren't rich and dabbling in the stock market or "throwing around" money.
7800 or even 7900 cards are not beyond luxury. They're not even that expensive.
I don't have 20" chrome wheels and a 3000 watt stereo system in my car... I have a plain jane white 4-door Ford Taurus.
How I choose to spend my money is my decision. How someone spends for another card to go SLI is theirs.
Some people buy bass boats - I think that's a waste, and much much more than a couple piddly video cards, but I don't go to the buy/sell section at the bass boat forum and rag on people for throwing around their money like a Saudi prince.
Sorry for the rant but I started this thread simply to offer up my cards for sale because I'm getting new ones.
You wanna buy one?
I'm even going to come down to $375.
Any interested parties can post or send me a PM. - one card left.
Thank you, come again. <- Apu accent

Re: Two BFG 7800GTX OC 256s
I know they're not anywhere near as expensive as like, real stuff, but to spend that much on a video card when my Radeon 9600 has never once refused to play a game seems to me slightly excessive. I mean, if you were spending thousands of bucks on medicine, I wouldn't say "if I had that kind of money..." because I'd probably blow it all on medicine too. It just seems to me if you have that kind of money to spare, Dual 7800GTXs might not be your best bet. 1 I could justify. 2 is getting... excessive.
But hey, it's your money. Nobody tries to chastise me when I buy something, and it's really none of my business how many 3d cards you have. From a purely objective standpoint, though, you're getting less than 10 frames per second in most cases for 400 bucks.|TG-Irr|TychoCelchuuu

Re: Two BFG 7800GTX OC 256s
No Tycho. You are wrong. I can live off of water, treebark and leaves. I can also live in a cave. And I have enough technical background that I'm sure I can "borrow" some electricity and an internet connection.
I NEED a second 7800GTX.
I only wish I had $375. Could I interest you in some car parts? I have a brand new Nitrous Express 10# bottle and all the goodies that come with it I can trade you for the GTX.

LOL, I don't think I'm in need of a NOS system on my wheeze-box 3.0 V6 Taurus engine.

This is not the place to debate the cost or value of an item for sale. Start your own thread in the Sandbox or the Hardware Forum. Scoop has a card for sale. Show him a little respect.

FYI, I still have one card.
I'm not worried about getting rid of it but I will for something along the lines of $350.
PM me if you're interested.

Re: Two BFG 7800GTX OC 256s
Bump
Some time has passed and the prices reflect the newer cards availability.
On the nVidia side there's really only two cards that are faster than the 7800GTX (not to mention this is a BFG OCd card); the 7900GTX and the dual-GPU 7950s. Yes that's debatable but you get the idea.
1 BFG 7800GTX OC w/all the stuff it came with. The shirt is used but not much cuz I'm a fat guy and hate tight shirts. I'll throw in a good shirt if ya want.
Newegg has the card at $289.00 at the moment.
I'll let this one go for $250 and I'll pay shipping.
The card has been in the box in my office since back when.
Lemme know if ya want it ;-)
