    WTB: Wii ?

Ok...Anyone out there Know where all the Wii's are? I mean we are almost 4 months past the holiday rush and still none are in sight... How in the world can a vendor like Amazon or Walmart not cmmand a huge GROSS of these things..? Is it Nintendo is just hording them or cannot make them fast enough or what? I could go to Ebay but I will not pay what they want and sit quietly not playing the Wii until Nintendo can get more out the door..

Any ideas what the issues are???

They can't make them fast enough. Demand *IS* that high.

Your best bet is to go someplace that has them, but people don't think of for console purchases. I happened across mine at BJ's Wholesale Club. They had two when I bought mine, and even though I didn't see another on sale for four weeks, they DID have them again later.

I've never seen one available anywhere else. Ever.

Get your phone book and start calling around. A friend of mine easily found one in town last month. It was at a video rental store (Rogers Video). They had a few in stock.

Best bet is just to order one online somewhere. No telling how long it will take, but you'll probably get it quicker (and eaiser) than running around to various stores who claim they have stock.

Yeah..I wish there were places (like Best Buy, Newegg, gogamer etc..) that would allow a Pre-Order or something.. Just put me down for one when they get them in...

I can order a Modchip and get it in a week..but no Wii.. ;-(
But PC Gaming is where it's at anyway...

Just wanted to make this clearer... PHONE AROUND. My friend decided one day that he wanted a Wii, and he made about 8 phone calls before finding a store which had MULTIPLE Wii's in stock. He started at 10:30 AM and picked up his Wii at lunch.

As pokerface said, target places that aren't the expected Wii stores. There are stores out there who have them sitting on the shelves. Think about hardware stores and video stores and small audio/video retailers.

It's not guaranteed that a Wii will be found in one day by phoning around. Although, I believe this is the best way of finding one. Get to know the delivery times at various stores and call/visit around those times.

You could try ordering online but considering that people have written scripts to auto-check and auto-buy the Wii... I tried for a couple of days monitoring websites with FireFox and C4C (Check For Change) extension. They literally sold within seconds.

Sony and everyone that invested in BluRay have got to be crying. They're all over the place on shelves here in the Dallas area and they were like that in San Diego in January. Nobody seems to want a PS3. I guess this means that HD-DVD is going to be the new home movie standard.

Not really. I mean, there are tons of Ps3's pretty well everywhere, but it's more because there are no significant third party games worth having at the moment. Wait till summer and you'll see them move.

But I can say, being that I work in retail (unfortunately), that HD-DVD movie sales and BluRay movie sales are pretty well in the same boat at the moment. Neither is moving in significant numbers to warrant the industry backing either. It'll probably come down to the price reductions in the actual true players that decides it. Whichever can become cheaper faster will win.

It may or may not be a deciding factor but the porn industry signed with HD DVD ( according to G4 )... And everyone knows how big the porn industry is... With accounts like that, is what is going to make HD DVD the next big hit... Although there are manufactures that have a player that plays both..

    Wimp!

Camp out like us other poor bastards did...LOL

Actually, I never would have done it for myself, but it was the only thing my kids had sounded remotely excited about for Christmas. Then they had to go and be so damn reasonable about accepting there was no way they would be able to get one before Christmas so "don't worry about it dad"...I think if they had been beggin for one I wouldn't have bothered.

Oh well, the 10 1/2 hours in a lawnchair in front of target was worth it Christmas morning. Sometimes being a decent dad sucks...LOL
