hey guys... i was wondering if you would like the |SOG| Tactical Headquarters Game-Type™ that I have put together for CoD2 on our server.... it works great with WRM. SOG tested, SOG approved.

IMO, it's alot better than the stock Headquarters that comes with the game.

The defending team can hold the HQ for 3 minutes, which would score them 180 points if they succeed. If the assaulting team takes over the HQ they receive 75 points (neutralizing points). I believe that the way we have it setup now doesn't require ANY Run n Gun tactics to win the match. If the defending team doesn't have a solid defense set up, the assaulting team can easily win the match, hence requires alot more teamwork, etc.

We, SOG, personally found these settings to be the best where we have set them, and result in very close, very enjoyable HeadQuarters games. And, of course, I made these settings adjustable via cvar in config file, so you can adjust the variables to whatever you want.

If you would like the gametype file, and the added cvar's for the config file let me know.

I think it would be fun to play on your CoD2 server... and it's very easy to implement into your current mod setup.

I know that the stock HQ modes are truly flawed as they push speed tactics over any other tactic. Anything that balances the game play and slows it down a bit would be nice.

Vir2L, yeah, this sounds very cool. We'd messed around with HQ in the past, but like Long Bow said, it always ended up being about speed rather than tactics. SOG Tactical HQ sounds like a huge improvement. Maybe we could do a CoD2 night on the SOG server next Wednesday(?).

I'm out of town actually,away from my computer...... but I'll be back early next week.

FYI - I've looked at the koth gametype coding for cod4 a little bit, but I really don't know if it's possible to mod the COD4 gametype to something similar as CoD2. I'll have to look into it more.

I have tried to get on your server and it will not download for me. Locks up at 3%. I have rebooted and still nothing.

last time i tried it was so slow. took about 15 minutes to DL a map.

yikes... i think it might depend on if someone is downloading a map at the same time.... it's on BigDogs FTP.. and it's free for us... i know that sometimes I can DL files at 800k/sec, and sometimes only 150k/sec.... so i dunno what exactly is the cause for the inconsistent DL speeds.

well if there is ever a problem joining the server, or downloading maps, you can go HERE, and manually download/install them.
