Re: Sniping
I don't really know exactly what you're wanting to know but there are plenty of sniper rifles in the game. You also have an option in your settings to bind a key to keep the scope steady (the scope will move around a little bit without it, not to the point where you can't shoot...pretty much how it would be in the real world), which is pretty neat I think.
More info on the weapons in the game here...http://www.planetcallofduty.com/call.../weapons.shtml

Re: Sniping
They are pretty good at 1 shot kills. You do need to hold your breath by the shift key to steady the rifle.

Re: Sniping
I don't foresee snipers being a huge problem for our server (compared to AWPS and Autos in CS:S). First of all, you have your three positions (standing, crouching and prone) plus the lean right and left. Second of all, you should always be traveling with your team (you won't last long by yourself in this game anyway), never alone, that's a given. Lastly, there is alot of cover in just about every map in the game. Oh, and did I mention smoke grenades?
Case in point, yeah, most of the sniper rifles (if not all?) are one shot-one kill. But if you use your head and play by the standards we have here, I just don't see this becoming a problem in this game as it has in CS:S (where we have to ban those certain weapons).

Re: Sniping
You need to fire ahead of moving targets at a distance in this game, I found that out.
You know, as opposed to like CSS where you don't at ALL

Re: Sniping
its strange, i thought without the unscoping of the rifle that there would be an abundance of snipers and in general the game would just be a snipe fest, but half the time a standard rifle allows you to see alot more at once without the tunnel vision at the sacrifice of the zoom.

Re: Sniping
Ive found the game moves too fast for a sniper on the ground to be dominating and one in a high position has very limited views of the field to make it completely effective to stay in one place for an extended period at long range.

Re: Sniping
ive had alot more success with standard bolt actions personally, their all i use really as the game is indeed too fast-paced for a scope, atleast on the majority of the maps. In the original CoD a patch had to ammend the ability to reload without unscoping because they where just too overpowered that way, being able to pick off multiple targets consequtively, im glad to see this isnt such an issue anymore.
