Re: Friendly Fire Fest
I guess I'm not sure which map you're talking about then. The one I'm reffering to, a snow map, has the Russians with a brown coat and the Germans in a white coat. There's trains in the middle.

If you're interested in seeing first hand what I'm talking about, check this server out...

That's the one I'm reffering to in which the speed is drastically slower, it's a pure tactical server, something I wouldn't mind modelling ours after.

Re: Friendly Fire Fest
yeah different map then, there are obvious Nazi- Russian maps where the Germans are in all white like the train one you mentioned. Others the uniforms change and they look like Lewis and Clark.

Re: Friendly Fire Fest
Again, I know this game is new to all of us here at TG, but, well, let me just give you examples that I hope are relevant to what I'm trying to get at here...

When I say tight I'm talking about players being slayed and/or kicked when running off without the team. Players being slayed and/or kicked for not communicating with their team. Players being slayed and/or kicked for kill hunting and not playing their objective. Players being slayed and/or kicked for bunny hopping (or crack jumping), etc, etc, etc.
It's probably going to take a lot of time since we're just starting out here, but I think what needs to be done first hand is have a number of admins on staff for the simple reason of not letting the server get out of hand and keep it to where it should and always be. It seems to be a really popular server from the times I've played on it and if the standard of play keeps up like it has it's going to be pretty hard to right the ship when you have that amount of players on the server at any given time. In other words, the longer and longer the Rambo style of play is allowed (again, not anyone at fault here in particular), then it's going to be hard to convince all the non-TGers (which seem to be the overwhelming majority) of our style of play and how we want to play the game.
I hope that makes sense. I'm not complaining so don't take it the wrong way, just giving you examples more or less of how to make it really work here.

Re: Friendly Fire Fest
Just to reiterate, because I don't want to sound pushy or disgusted, I know it's going to take time. This is new to all of us and I certainly wouldn't expect things to come together in just a few days. Rome wasn't built in a day!

Re: Friendly Fire Fest
One thing we can look at is password night for TG only. We can pick a couple of nights and have it our way. That way if someone outside of TG wants in they will have to join TG and play by our rules.

Re: Friendly Fire Fest
Maybe I'm just reading too far into it but hopefully the standard of play would atleast be adequate on non-password nights as well.

Re: Friendly Fire Fest
Password nights generally attract the more 'hardcore' TG players. It also gives an event for everyone to meet all at once instead of people playing randomly throughout the week. Password nights have been very successful with BF2 and AA in the past.

Re: Friendly Fire Fest
I was on the server last night and it did get kind of crazy on that last CTF match, I believe the map name was Leningrad, but I could be wrong (Stalingrad is the railyard map, and Moscow is wide open and rifle friendly, so by process of elimination...). Anyway, I would like to apologize because I had several accidental TK's, and one of mine may have set off Friendly Fire
. One was particularly as I was attempting to flush a sniper out of a window using a BAR...and a teammate walked into my line of fire. Other than that incident, the other TK's I had were misindentification of friend or foe on Leningrad, as it has been said that the map is in a snowstorm, the uniforms were similar, and in the fast paced battle it was hard to tell what gunfire was directed at me and I picked out muzzle flashes to shoot at and picked wrong a few times :/. I have learned my lesson and will wait for the tag color to indicate friend or foe.
