Friendly Fire Fest
I know we're all relative newbs but i noticed tons of friendly fire tonight w/out the same team tag identifier. It got particularly bad when it was Russians vs Germans in the snow. The uniforms look so similar.
Another plus it helps you to actually see where your teamates have taken up positions allowing you and your teamates to adjust tactically and to coordinate the best attack. As it is now its seems like people arent so sure who's who, leaving them to move more "alone" than as a functioning team. The tags while "not realistic" might facilitate more tactical play.
I guess i can get used to any way we do it, but it may not be a bad idea to think about enabling the same team icons on the server.

Re: Friendly Fire Fest
I got hacked off Jusb about the person named "friendly fire" kept shooting even his teammates who had the flag and shot me several times. So I left the server.

Re: Friendly Fire Fest
I was just saying in general... I shot a couple people early and didnt shoot the enemy for fear of friendly fire a few times.

Re: Friendly Fire Fest
I know it's going to take time, but just an observation from playing in our server so far...it's chaos.
The last couple times I've played there have been 20 plus players in the server and it doesn't really feel at all tactical. No one is really communicating and everyone is pretty much doing their own thing. Perhaps that just has to do with it being CTF.
Some things I, personally, think should get done...
1) Reduce the running speed
2) Spawn Protection
3) Have messages pop up in the HUD warning against bunny hopping, grenade spamming and jumping from tall buildings (ie. second story windows).
4) Get rid of the CTF and keep it S&D and HQ only.
5) Remove crosshairs (use iron sights, it's more realistic that way)
Don't take that the wrong way, I'm not ordering anything, just giving my honest input on what I think would make the server more tactically realistic.
Edit: The FF issue, I think root of that problem is communication coupled with the amount of people in the server and the mode being played. With that many people in the server and the mode being CTF, it probably would result in a TK here and there. However, I think if we just did away with CTF and people communicated more and worked as a team, you wouldn't have these problems.

Yeah but on that particular map the Germans are in white and the Russians are brown. I don't know how you could mistake the two for a friendly...

Re: Friendly Fire Fest
The game just moves very fast. If there was a way to slow it down it be better but i dont know how you would do that.

I do think putting the Tags back up will make it easier for players to group up as you'll be able to see your teamates immediately and the positions they have taken up.Long Live the 2nd BCT and 1st MIP

they are also quite snowladen on those maps, adding the fact that they both wear helmets and long coats i can see where jusb is coming from....

Re: Friendly Fire Fest
First of all, the game moves very slow compared to others I play (CS:S, Q3). Second, you can reduce the running speed. I played in another server in which that was instilled. The speed was drastically slower than any other server I played.

Re: Friendly Fire Fest
Communication is the key. On AA you had alot of people that did their own thing, but when we as TG have players on we should start working together and the rest will catch on. It seems that just starting out we need to take those baby steps and work together to make it happen.

Re: Friendly Fire Fest
well compared to BF2 and even SF this game is on crack speed. So as far as that is concerned id prefer it be slowed down.
