    Aaahh! Spring Cleaning!

Okay, I know Spring isn't actually here yet, but we're getting enough forum traffic in here now that things are starting to look pretty cluttered. As a couple of the newer guys have indicated, it's hard to tell what's what and what's where unless you've been part of this group for a while. Plus, since we're in serious contention for a Game Club rotation, I think it's time we have a little forum cleanup, and I'd be happy to help! Suggestions:

    - To handle all the mods and maps we're dealing with, I think we should have a separate "Call of Duty 2 - Maps and Modifications" forum, with all of the WRM, eXtreme+ Mod, Admiral Mod, and various map posts moved into it. Any discussion of new maps and mods can take place in there.

    - There really needs to be a locked sticky post in the "Call of Duty 2 - Official Rules, Announcements & SOPs" forum that has both of the CoD2 server IPs listed and the mods running on them. Any related posts already here in the "Call of Duty 2 - General Discussion" forum should be merged into that post or deleted.

    - There also needs to be two locked sticky posts in the "Call of Duty 2 - Official Rules, Announcements & SOPs" forum that have all of the maps listed that are running on each CoD2 server -- maybe something like this. Any related posts already here in the "Call of Duty 2 - General Discussion" forum should be merged into those two posts or deleted.

Basically, a new player should be able to come into these CoD2 forums, go into the "Call of Duty 2 - Official Rules, Announcements & SOPs" forum, and quickly be able to get all the info he needs to join our servers and download any custom maps we're running. Then, if he wants to talk about the game, he can go into the "Call of Duty 2 - General Discussion" forum and talk it up. If he wants to discuss the great times he had on Beltot or Leningrad, he can go into the "Call of Duty 2 - After Action Reports" forum and create an AAR post. If he wants to discuss maps or mods, he can go into the "Call of Duty 2 - Maps and Modifications" forum and let us know about any new maps or mods available.

Having so much discussion is definitely a Good Thing, but it's starting to get pretty crazy in here. Let me know if I can help clean up!

The mods that we are running and the maps in rotation keep changing so fast its difficult to keep up with them. I completely agree with you. I think that in one post we should have current mod and download location, current maps and download locations.

Suggestion: roll it into a thread dump, instead of cleaning up the forums. A sticky that guides a new user through the threads will be faster, easier to manage, and will take less effort.

I like this idea. When i popped in to have a crack at CoD, the Rules and SOPS section seemed pretty generic. Although i make it a point to reread them every so often, the things i was really looking for are those mentioned below. The various maps, various mods, whether they are server side etc. There actually seems to be very little needed to be done to get up and running very quickly(just the maps to install). It doesnt come across that way though.

If you get a lot more people popping in for a chat and a cup of tea this would be really useful and save lots of "so what do i have to do?" posts like mine. Then again i like making work for people...
