little newbish...
Hey guys, i know someof you frag with me on a daily basis on BF2, but id really like to get into a lil COD2. I played the first COD multi like crazy so i assume ill pick it up rather quickly. What game modes do you usually play? Does everyone go on TS for this or do you use the in game voip? Just some newbish questions to get myself started playin. I was on the server for a lil while before just messin around. It downloaded that mod in seconds. Lookin forward to playin with you guys.
On a side note, the smoke in COD2 is the best smoke in any game BY FAR. Its very thick and lasts quite a while. Its perfect for cover, so im sure you guys use it extensively :-)

Re: little newbish...
We play Search and Destroy all the way baby. We find it's more tactical than the other game types

Yep, we run WRM. Thats a realism mod. We also have our own TG weapon specs and a few other little addons. You wont find a mod the same as ours anywhere else.It downloaded that mod in seconds. Lookin forward to playin with you guys.

Re: little newbish...
All you downloaded was a TG/Strag weapon mod and red dot remover. The weapon mod is for makeing weapons more real to RL. Slower and what not, the red do remover just gets rid of the little red dots on the compass. Just look through the forum here to see what else we have done
that sounds like a good idea trooper.

Actually, no kittens were harmed in the making of this thread. All the changes seemed to be scattered in posts all over the place. Tomorrow I'll try and put all these changes in one place.

Basically:
Wolfsbane's Realism Mod - This is the backbone mod. It makes the game less arcade-like and more realistic.
Other changes include:
Amount of ammo carried
Number of grenades/smoke grenades carried
Recoil of weapons
Damage of weapons
Accuracy of weapons
Rate Of Fire of weapons
Grenade throw distance
Sniper animations
The little red dots that appear on your compass when the enemy fires his weapon has been removed.
Thats breifly some of the stuff that has changed, but as I said, hopefully a list of all the modifications can be created. I'll start that tomorrow I think.

Re: little newbish...
Welcome to TG CoD2, Snail. Glad to see you in here.

As 0b1one and Trooper said, we've heavily modded our server to provide a playing environment Tactical Gamers would expect. The "arcadey" features of CoD2 have been almost completely disabled. It sounds like 0b1one is going to pull all the changes into one thread (great idea!), so that will definitely help to summarize things for you.
For now, just know that you don't need to download or install anything yourself. Everything you need either runs on the server itself, or is downloaded to your computer automatically when you connect (these were the small, quick downloads you already saw). Hope to see you on the server soon!

Re: little newbish...
SNAIL DAWG! Welcome. The mod is pretty sweet, though it takes a little getting used to the weapon changes. Once you get accustomed to it (about as long as it takes to learn any game's gun mechanics) its a blast once you get some 4 vs 4 going, and it makes the game very tactical.

Re: little newbish...
Let's not forget the removal of the dogtags from dead players. Very significant strategic mod. Now you have no idea how many enemies are left by hitting the ESC button. Communicating confirmed kills between teammates becomes very important to keep track of this.

Re: little newbish...
Whoops, meant hitting the TAB button to check on dead players!

Re: little newbish...
It seems I don't play enough or I just can't get enough, but I am sure that will change in a week.
