    Exclamation Good Specs, Poor Performance

    Specs:
    Video Card: Geforce 6800 Ultra AGP8x (256mb)
CPU: AMD Dual Core X2 3800
    Sound Card: Creative X-Fi Platnium
    Rams: 2 Gigs Kingston PC3200
    HardDrive: Western Digital 2500JB
    Mobo: AsRock Dual 939SATA II

While, i can run QUAKE4 , BF2 with all the high settings, I can't even get average frames over 30 in COD2 with 800x600 resolution, medium texture, medium smokes, 2x AA, Bilinear Texture... *NOTE even if I tune all those settings to HIGH, I still get around 28 ~ 29 frame rates, no differnce.

    Please help your fellow TG!

Hmmm. Did you apply that dual core patch? If so, did you try running the game before applying the dual core patch?

From a hardware standpoint, your system should run CoD2 without any problems.

i applied it before i run the game, i guess the only way to unpatch it is to reinstall the game?

Yeah, I don't think there's a way to remove the patch, so you might want to try reinstalling and then running the game without the patch. You really should have NO problems running this game with every setting maxed out.

Did you force graphics mode to DirectX 7?

It defaults to 'auto' setting, which uses all kinds of fancy DX9 features. I run a 6800GS 256 and I cant get good enough performance on that mode either. I get a rock solid 91fps on DX7 mode with no dips, all other settings at max.

I think it's that dual core patch. That machine of his should be able to run DirectX 9.0 with everything completely maxed out.

    Give the DirectX7 a try...

Go to Options - Graphics - and make Rendering Options into DirectX7... i am sure that will fix things up and still look good.

Fun, fun and more fun. But do not be selfish. Provide some fun and you will receive some fun.
