idea: individual ranking system
hey ive been thinking and even though im new i think it is a good idea i believe we should have individual ranking systems that we put in our names
like for instance make people who join the clan wear tags that say Rct for recruit, you can also move up in rank based on your activity on the forums or on the server, your skill, leadership, moving up in a rank will be very tough and an indiviual must work hard to achieve a higher rank, any demerits results in a demotion, promotions are given out only by the colonel but people may recommend someone for a higher rank
my idea of the ranks would be like this:
Grunts: lowest ranks, easier to get promoted but with very little, but there must be at least 1 person in every ranking from private to sergeant 1st class before you can move someone up
Recruit (Rct): stays a recruit for their first week
Private (Pvt):fresh outta being a recruit (as many people as you want)
Private first Class (PFC): grade above a private (as many people as you want)
Corporal (Cpl) (as many people as you want)
Sergeant (Sgt) (as many people as you want)
Staff Sergeant (SSgt) (as many people as you want)
Sergeant First Class (SFC) (as many people as you want)
Master Sergeant (MSgt) (as many people as you want)
Sergeant Major (SMaj): The grunt who is the most acclaimed leader (1 person)
Trainers: people who conduct our trainings must be people who are great tacticians
Command Sergeant (CSgt): carries out trainings (exception has rcon strictly for taining) (2 people max)
Officer Status: people who are admins on the server (should be very hard to reach)
2nd lieutenant (2ndLt): first to achieve rcon (2 people)
1st Lieutenant (1stLt) (1 person)
Captain (Cpt): new admins, first to achieve admin status everywhere
(1 person max)
Major (Maj):second in command, 2nd level admins (2 people max)
Colonel (Col): highest ranking, only one of, highest ranking admin (1 person)
this is just my idea and i was seeing what everone thought my idea is just to make us look more professional and help us keep order on the forums and the server

Re: idea: individual ranking system
I have been thinking about this idea a little bit. I think it would be helpful to have some kind of structure (read:rank).
Maybe we don't need to follow the military style you have listed. Because of our small(ish) numbers it might help to simplify it.
For example, the guys who are expected to lead in game could put an asterix next to their name. The TG tag alone shows you are a competant team member. One asterix could indicate a competant Fireteam leader, two asterixes could indicate competant commander.
Ideally, when there are only 4-5 people on one team the "one star" guys can lead. When there are more people on the server then hopfully there will be a "two star" guy can allocate fireteams to the "one stars". Obviously "two stars" will be able to lead a Fireteam also (if required).
This is just a vauge formula I have come up with. Harsh criticism is welcomed!
Also, Stunna, it's great that you are putting these ideas out as I think enthusiasm is contagious. Enthusiam for TGs CoD is always good. Just one minor point, can you format your posts a bit more and add a little more punctuation to your sentences. No one expects you to spell everything perfectly (well, maybe Root does). It just makes it easier to read!

Re: idea: individual ranking system
yeah no problem its just im so used to internet talk that i am not used to punctuation. Well anyways Obi i think were are shooting in the same direction with the individual ranking system, but it does not matter how we do it as long as if we do decide to do it it is done well.

Re: idea: individual ranking system
I like the star system but to wear a star means you take command in games. When more than one of equal rank then they decide who commands. Sounds like a plan.

yeah the star idea sounds good, but the main reason i like my idea better is because it makes us look more professional, but i'll take either ideam.

Re: idea: individual ranking system
The question is, who's the decider? My first thought is Admins and/or SMs should create an initial hierarchy of leadership...beyond that nominations and what not. Perhaps a new ribbon award. The CS:S equivalent would be PCS-P. Perhaps an internal group of PCoD-P?

Re: idea: individual ranking system
Well, we do have a " Distinguished Squad Leader" ribbon. Maybe that should be incorporated. That would require people (anyone) to send in a nomination.

Re: idea: individual ranking system
thats a good idea also if you have the squad leader ribbon maybe then you can already be somewhere within an 1 star or officer ranking

Re: idea: individual ranking system
I like the idea of a simple ranking system for scrim play. It's something that could definitely help us achieve a higher level of organization in our matches.
Wulfyn came up with a nice system for Red Orchestra, similar to what you've described, DaNumba1Stunna. A three-tiered version of this would probably work well for us. Our server is already set up to emulate squad-level play, so we'd only need:
Sgt = Overall Squad Leader
Cpl = Fireteam Leader
Pvt = Fireteam Member
Depending on what role a person would like to play in a scrim, he would sign up with the appropriate rank. For example, if I wanted to participate as a Fireteam Leader in a scrim, I would sign up as Cpl.Strag. We could organize fireteams beforehand, and this would make overall squad organization much easier.
This is a possible system that we could use.
If we wanted to take things a step beyond this, we could ask Grunt to show us how the 1stMIP breaks down a fireteam into standardized roles. We'd need to use a variation of this, of course (since CoD2 does not have vehicles), but it's certainly something we could explore.

That three tier system seems like it would work beautifully for what we want it to do.

Re: idea: individual ranking system
i like your idea strag but maybe add 2-3 more ranks on that, and instead of you being able to sign up for a given rank you can be given a new rank by the highest ranking members. So, when you moving up a rank it works in somewhat of the same process of being awarded ribbons.
Here's my idea off you idea, Strag:
Lieutenant (Lt): Can command multiple squads of men (lets call it a platoon) (highest rank)
Sergeant (Sgt): Squad Leader (2nd in command)
Corporal (Cpl): Fireteam leader
Private (Pvt): Fireteam Member
Recruit (Rct): Brand new Members (can be fireteam members)
My idea is that for every platoon (20 Men) there is 1 Lt, 2 Sgt, 3 Cpl, 14 Pvt
So outta every 20 random members pick 1 Lt most qualified, 2 Sgt next in line for lieutenant, 3Cpl next runner ups for sergeant, and the rest are Pvt.
These numbers must be strictly balenced or else everything becomes uneven and eventually falls apart. We must also pick who our trainers are going to be. People will be evenly placed in platoons.

Re: idea: individual ranking system
I don't think the recruit tag would be necessary since players aren't recruited into TG.

Re: idea: individual ranking system
We have got to remember that this is for fun. Let's not get carried away with attaining rank. I just like to be pvt. and have fun but whatever it takes.

Re: idea: individual ranking system
The one thing that TG is about is tactics and teamwork. We have not been into ranks here. Strag's system that he got from Wulfyn would do us fine. That is what set's us apart from other sites and clans. So if we do decide to do a rank system I support the Wulfyn/Strag system.

Re: idea: individual ranking system
Well, while ranking systems would show a form of organization, I honestly don't see a reason why it would be needed here at TG. We are a community, not a clan, and so differnt "circumstances" apply to differnt situations.
We've never need a command structure at TG becuase all of our fellow CoD'ers have always been mature and open to any sort of plan and expect the same in return. People are always complimenting on how they enjoy TG for various reaons, one of those are being able to come into a server, suggest a plan, and having people go with it. I'm afraid if we try to start these ranks within the squad now, it may go to some folks head. They may not be as open to suggestions as they once were. I'm also afriad that it wouldn't make all of us here feel as equals anymore. When I was leading MBoI I had decided to take away the ranks for that reason, no-one felt like an equal anymore and felt like they Had to listen to someone of a higher rank.
Not trying to be sour apple *grin* It's a great idea really, but I'm just not quiet sure if it's the best thing for us here at the time. Maybe i'm wrong though, i've never claimed to be the one with the head on streight, hehe.
