CoD4 MasterServer bug
Concr3t and myself were playing a bit earlier today and noticed that the master server wont bring up the other servers sometimes. is this a bug or just some issue that is temporary? or any other thoughts, and please don't start saying Infinity Ward sucks because of this

Not sure, I haven't noticed this yet. I do have a problem connecting to servers though. Some connect just fine while others time-out. Don't know maybe this is what your talking about.

not exactly, although I've had that trouble as well. when you click "Join Game" it brings you to the server list and then I click refresh and it says in the upper left corner "connecting to Master Server" and then it just sits there. Concr3t and myself looked up an IP on the internet and were able to connect through the console and then proceeded to enjoy some domination

Okay, no I haven't encountered that yet, the servers have been loading fine, I haven't got online today though.

I had a little trouble connecting to the master server on the PS3 side today. Only a small thing though, 3rd time it connected. Not sure if it's related...

I've had that problem also. I rebooted and that may have helped and then again it could have been a coincidence.

I think Master Server is a server that serves the users. It is down from time to time while new users are trying to connect to it. I am sure once the game releases full scale and Infinity Ward or whoever manages that Master Server, adjusts the Master Server capacity to be able to handle daily connections to it, we will be fine and seldom see this problem.
This error is known from CoD and CoD2. To avoid it, have some Favorites saved. These favorites saved do not get affected by the Master Server problem.
If you know the IP of the server you want to connect, you can press ~ to get into console and type in "/connect IP:Port" to manually connect to a server.

Unfortunately that doesn't help us console players. My machine has officially been downloading game settings for over an hour. This is something that should have been taken care of before the game hit store shelves.

Wanted to give you a heads up if you are experiencing some issues with 'Connection Time Out' or other misc server errors at the moment.
This is related to some minor issues with Activision's Master Server causing some packet lost and connection errors. This is currently being addressed as we're going to move over all those responsibilities to a new non-virtual server we're setting up here at Infinity Ward however keep in mind it will take some time for the DNS to update for everyone and propagate the changes so you may continue to see some issues until it has fully propagated to each of you guys.
