Re: did you buy from Direct2drive?
This is the only patch page I'm seeing on d2d Mag,
http://www.direct2drive.com/patches/ I don't even see any CoD4 patches listed there either. |

Re: did you buy from Direct2drive?
Howdy!
I appreciate that you are all looking for the newest 1.2 patch from Direct 2 Drive for your Call of Duty 4 game purchase and we're doing all we can at this point to get the latest patch from the game developers. Unfortunately this is taking longer than we had anticipated. We are continuing to work with them on this and should have it posted for download ASAP! Re: did you buy from Direct2drive?
Ditto! lol
Although, many have been frustrated by the recent PB problem and the Steam Community in-game messages causing kicks. I don't understand how it can take so long for D2D to make a patch work with their distribution. They seriously have to rethink the way they're changing the game to work with their distribution system if it takes a lot of effort to create a patch. |

Re: did you buy from Direct2drive?
Thanks Wolf for the info, thou as you probably know, waiting too long will cost IGN (direct2drive) business, if not now... then on the next purchase...
I've bought 15 games from direct2drive and love the service... this is my first 'bad" experience. |

Re: did you buy from Direct2drive?
I think Steam would be a better choice for online distribution. It has a much larger user base so complaints will matter more. Most of the problems I've seen are addressed within a few days or solutions will be found. The PB problem I had with COD4 was easily fixed by a google search. Same when my COD4 preload didn't let me play right away (some searching revealed the preload didn't download fully).
Steam does have its problems but it's a popular service. Patches are done automatically and quickly. I like the way Steam does things. It's plain and simple. |

Re: did you buy from Direct2drive?
Im a steam CoD4 user, and I am irked to no end in regard to the steam community thing. That is obviously some left-over hard feelings from the whole "we wont be using PB anymore, we will create VAC instead" thing a few years back with CS. The excuse Evenbalance gives is a huge load of BS as well, since some applications can use overlay with PB and some cannot. The issue to me is I can't even complain to anyone that matters other then Valve, and they have zero pull over Evenbalance. Alluding steam-friends is a hook cheaters use makes VAC look worthless (and VAc is no more or less worthless then PB) since it allows it, it's schoolyard stuff from Evenbalance and I will be steering clear of their games until this issue is fixed.

Re: did you buy from Direct2drive?
I think your able to delete a registry file, and install any of the retail patches. It's just a file in your registry telling it not to install a retail patch.
