Re: We've all got issues...Lets talk!

Nice discussion going on here.. My 2 cents.

I could see the spawn times as long as 20 seconds max.. More than that will bore many people (we have a full minute on the ArmA server)

Although I would like to see the UAV, Air Strikes and Heli perks out of the game.
We must put in a rule RIGHT NOW, against, using them in the first 30 seconds of any round, any game mode.... ADDING in nade spam to that rule. (nothing more enjoyable than being killed by nade spam in the first 10 seconds of a round of S&D.. /sarcasm)

I would not be too happy about being limited to a weapon because everyone else loaded in faster than me.(not that I am the last one to load, just an example)..
Kit limits would change the game play for the better, sort of.. Limiting the number of snipers would make me smile BIG.. Not because they kill me a lot, but , because when they are on my team, I end up getting camped by the other team... Yes, I dont like snipers

The mini map is so helpful in IDing friendlies, I cant express this enough.. I have a BAD habit of shooting people with out tags, Especially snipers or people hiding in bushes.
Someone mentioned that TKs should be punished with a "self TK".. It is enabled on the HC server, trust me :/... and you get a nice time out(20 seconds) to think about what you just did ... Again sry for shooting you in the back of the head when you walked in front of me, while scoped in, firing at an enemy your situational awareness needs help, as does mine.

I also want to add in.. that people should be required to play as a team.. "play the objective" is not a suggestion.. Running the other direction from the "bomb" that is getting closer and closer to our "Defend" is not playing the objective.
Since the game does not have a "Squad/ Platoon Leader" position/ role.. Players need to start taking charge of their team, Giving/Following orders is part of what TG is all about.. Winning is not everything, Playing as mature teamplayers is.
AND using VOIP/Mic should also be a rule.. No exceptions.

or people could use bombsquad like me and not die from clays, even though I think people just like to defuse those things manually whenever I say "don't go in the door, there is a clay in there!"... boom! one dead teammate

one issue I have noticed, where are the admins? do the admin tools just suck or is there some other issue going on?

I agree. I don't see the problem with claymores and a good reason is the Bomb Squad perk. Claymores can be countered by the perk or lucky sprinting and they're already quite visible with the red beams.

I tend to see teams that defend use claymores more often than teams on the attack. Attacking teams will probably load out with grenades and other tactical items instead of claymores, which are more for defense.

Although, I think the game can be played tactically and provide a lot of fun without being modded. It just takes a lot of work from the players on the servers. It's not likely that some magical server setup will encourage team play without frequent admin support. And I mean admins on the server playing and not in TS waiting for something bad to happen. Not that I have anything against the current admins. It's just that I'd rather see resources spent on aggressive administration (frequent admin presence on the server) instead of passive administration (tweaking server settings).

Admins are around, and we are adding a few more. And yes admin tools do suck horribly. I have 3 tools. one for player stuff one for map stuff and one to just look at stuff. That was a problem with cod2 as well, its totally not like bf2 or css.

And we are on the server, just dont wear tags. Which maybe we should.

Re: We've all got issues...Lets talk!

The helicopter and air raid which are currently at 7 and 5 kills respectively. Should be in my opinion increased to 9 and 11 if not removed totally.

UAV's should be bumped to 7 kills if not removed all together.

A simple compass is essential as many have stated. The more I hear the reasons for a mini-map I have started to be swayed in their direction. The implementation of the mini map would be a interesting idea to see. The red dots are a a detraction from the gameplay in "my" personal opinion. I will take a wait and see to this recommendation. Perhaps when a good compass is created and familiarity with a map will eliminate the need for the red dots.

The nade is spam is fracking Ridiculous. Grenades should have a delay of 25 seconds after the start of a round. You should also not be allowed to throw a nade over buildings.
Throwing a nade at a sighted, distinctively heard enemy ; clearing a room or objective are all valid reasons for using a nade in my opinion.
I don't know if you can edit the min engage range or the time to enable the grenade launcher. Which is the noob tube right up there with using a Anti-Armor weapon from BF2 to kill a person running across the map.

Kit limitations are interesting. If this can be implemented without limiting the customization of a weapon class. Somehow I don't think that IW was that nice to let this happen.

Recommendations:
The low and slow approach has always worked for me. I would recommend this to all players don't forget about crouch position this enables you to move around alot quieter.

Iron sights are in my opinion more reliable than shooting from the hip.
This i believe will be essential when the damage model for players is restructured.

Sabotage is a great mode. But I feel that a 1 round win is more than enough for TG.
I honestly did not get what Zoopy was stating on the longer respawn times until tonight.

-------
That's pretty much all of my suggestion/rant list.
If I think of anything else I will happily add them to this post.

One thing we can do is change the accuracy of shooting. Iron sites will be more accurate and hip shots will be way off target. Cuaseing you to bring those sites up.

I came across this utility which seems to be an improvements on most others.

It's not incredibly helpful just now, but it looks like it'll be getting there

You mean a tag on teamspeak right? If so, done.

I'm also around just about every evening--with the caveat that I haven't yet installed the server admin tools...but I've been present and accounted for just about every night and have spoken up re: server rules when necessary.

not for the admins in TS, I know who they are and where they live. I'm talking about everyone in-game sorry I should have clarified that

An admin in game should be watching for infractions or the chat messages. There isn't much reason for players to know who the admins are. Just shout out for an admin and one should respond if present.

Re: We've all got issues...Lets talk!

You can easily set up the server to have no grenades (or possibly a grenade to a particular kit), no air strikes, no helicopter, disable any type of gun, disable any type of perk, have hardcore with the minimap, custom default kits, etc. Would take like 5 minutes.
