For all you snipers and ACOGers out there...

From the COD4 Dev. team....Pablo found it.

Quote:
Hey Everyone --

Wanted to give you a heads up that we've added even more to the upcoming patch / update thanks solely to ALL of your feedback on the Sniper Rifle, and ACOG Scope.

We have fixed the bullet registration "Accuracy" of the Sniper Rifles and ACOG Scope thanks to your feedback, so you will now have improved hit detection when using those weapons / attachment.

Again, thanks to everyone who sent in emails, posted on the forums, made videos, or let us know in any other way about this. It's fixed now and will be in the upcoming patch for 1.3 Patch for PC along with a few other updates / fixes. Full patch notes will be posted of course, once we have them finished.

I agree with sniper hits, I think half of my problems are related to ping but who knows.

I used the 50 cal the other night, I was really disappointed. I didn't have stopping power perk on, but what the hell, a 50 cal shouldn't need extra stopping power to bring someone down with one shoot. Just disappointed since a 50 cal will for most part kill you if it hits you, at the least you will be on the ground bleeding out.

The .50 cal sniper sequence was one of my favourite parts of the single player game. You could hit the guy in the arm and he would just explode.

Re: For all you snipers and ACOGers out there...

I unlocked the Acog yesterady and tried it out last night...bleh. No thanks, couldn't kill anything with that. I finished a whole round with 0 kills and like 9 deaths, not that I am a great shot but this was very sub-standard.

Guardian, thanks for posting (and Pablo for finding) maybe I will try it out after the update to see the changes.

Why is the whole "Hold Shift to Steady" concept remove when I use an ACOG? How does that make sense?

Actually you can hit him anywhere and he'll still lose his arm, I think. Scripted sequence

Re: For all you snipers and ACOGers out there...

ya adding the acog to a sniper rifle is to test your ability. it hardly makes it easier.

unless they fix how it works the acog is a wasted asset.

as for barrett they don't actually portray it correctly.. its an amr and was never designed to be used on human targets.. its for soft targets like jeeps, vehicles you name it.

think in Iraq they are using them to detonate car bombs..

Thats just because you have a ping of 7000. I think the bullet registration is fine on all the guns except for the sniper rifles and acog scopes.

Nah, if my ping gets over 60, I have to start leading the enemy with regular guns. Over 90, I find I am often shooting behind my target entirely. I could hit someone on BF2 with 130 ping playing on a European server, but I have to lead the enemy on TG's server where I have a 70-100 ping.

I've had similar issues. I used to play 2142 on euro servers with a 150ms ping and had very few issues. I just had to avoid shooting at guys sprinting laterally across my field of vision. In CoD4 it gets REALLY bad as you go over 100ms. I've emptied full clips into guys backs and they didn't take any damage.
