Re: objective of S&D

I have seen this work well on the TG server. Usually the bomber calls the target and says everyone rush it hard and fast. We charge hard, pop smoke and shock the defender. Suddenly the pressure is on the defenders that are at the other bomb site and we have most of our team positioned to hold them off. It can make for a very exciting finish for the round as the clock ticks down. Seeing the whole team storm in and set up shop on a bomb site with smoke and bullets flying is great. The problem is if a the first few players into the bomb site go down quickly or some members hesitate it falls apart fast. I think there are so many variables that every tactic has its place at some point it's just a matter of using the right one at the right time. ![]()

Re: objective of S&D
It's possible that the player doesn't keep track of the timer. I've forgotten that an entire minute has passed and had the bomb blow up. Defusing the bomb is a balance of ensuring the area is secure and going in for the defuse. Some players are good at it, some aren't.

Re: objective of S&D
On the TG CS:S servers we have the time before round start doubled so the teams can plan ahead and discuss tactics. I kinda miss that on the COD4 server. I only play on the hardcore server btw. Also, Dead Silence perk ftw!

Re: objective of S&D
I do both occasionally. Sometimes I set up shop to defend a target and other times I get with a couple of other guys to try and flank the attackers and/or catch their own flankers in the process.
What usually annoys me in S&D is when the bomb carrier fails to communicate where they are going to plant and just run off. That leaves a bunch of your support sitting back and scratching their heads trying to figure out where you went. Also, sometimes I like to be the carrier and sometimes I'd prefer to provide support. I hate it when I'm in a support mood and get bumped into the bomb. I've played some very good matches recently on server 2 where we all rushed a certain target and quick planted. Have also had some fun ones with one or two guys creating a distraction at the other. The other team thinks "oh crap, they're on B!" and all rush over there while we wait for a few and plant at A. |

Re: objective of S&D
The funniest is people look and look and look for more enemies while the bomb ticks down meanwhile there is nobody left alive and all they had to do was walk right up to the bomb and defuse.

Re: objective of S&D
Hidus, well, in actuality, the tags from the 'tab' score view should be invisible to players who are alive. That's more of an issue than the kill-cam being either on or off.

Re: objective of S&D
Would the countdown still be visible in this scenario or not? The way I do it when there are defenders left alive is look around as much as I can until there is about 12 seconds left then move in for the defuse regardless. Either I am going to get shot defusing or I am going to defuse but that bomb is not going off uncontested. Hiding who is left alive wouldn't change the outcome.

Re: objective of S&D
Having the timer visible will always be part of the game. Still can't help but wonder why they removed it when designed hardcore mode..

Re: objective of S&D
You remember the old Tactical Mod for BF2? Where the objective was to push for a team win? Perhaps that's what needs to happen here because people don't seem to pay nearly enough attention to the core objective (see avoiding the bomb posts). So what if this was modded to remove the points you received from kills and setup so that the server doesn't record kills in the scoreboard. Then it would focus game play on the things that are important, winning as a team or losing as a team as pure camping would net little individual benefit.
