PB problems

I have punk buster active in game but now 1 site is kicking me saying I need to manually update, other sites I seem ok on????
What do I need to activate to allow auto-update to work.

I've been on the PB site but I don't seem to be able to update from there.

Anyone know what I should be doing here. Certainly it seems from reading the PB site to be somewhat complex to manually update.

Regards

http://www.punkbuster.com/index.php?page=pbsetup.php

D/L your pbsetup file. Then follow instructions on the page. It's easy.

Re: PB problems

I'm having PB problems now. Things seemed to work fine all day, then suddenly I couldn't stay in game for more than a minute. I would get PB kicked for an invalid device/driver. I rebooted, reinstalled nvidia drivers, and manually updated PB, and that error went away. However, I kept getting warnings that the COD vanilla server had an older PB config. It worked OK for about 10 minutes, but now I get kicked immediately on join. The error says to manually update PB. I have manually updated several times, but it doesn't seem to help.

I haven't installed any hardware or software in the last few days. There was a windows update, but things seemed to be working after that, at least for awhile.

PB Client version: v2.029 | A1394

Re: PB problems

To update I use the pbsetup.exe I posted above. I just updated today and have version 2.028.

Maybe I updated after you did? If you run it again, does it download 2.029? Is there a way for me to go back to 2.028?

I have the 2.029 and it ran fine tonight. I put the pbsetup file on my desktop and run it every few days. So many updates lately for CoD and Bf2 that it is the most consistent way to stay caught up and not hassle with it.

Re: PB problems

Seems like I can play everywhere but the vanilla TG server. Is there some kind of timer that I have to wait out before I try connecting to the vanilla server again?

Re: PB problems

Thanks guys

I'll have another go when I get home tonight.

One thing though I have PB installed but it does not work in auto so if I D/L the pbsetup file does that cause any issues with what I allready have or will is just update. Also the PB site mentions other files to D/L but is the pbsetup the only one i need?

2ndly When I tried to run this off the Desktop before it said some error ref 32bit or something.

Anyways we'll see what happens tonight when I try again.

EDIT
Well; I did what was said above using the link from coupon clipr and it worked a dream.
I don't know why I had so much trouble the night before.

Thanks

Re: PB problems

I've only used the pbsetup to update PB. I'm not quite sure what happened though, my PB would keep itself updated until just a month ago. 2142 and CoD4 both require manual updates now.

Re: PB problems

yes, seems like some things have been broken. I used to be able to run the steam overlay to chat, now if you do you get a dissallowed problem so you can't run the overlay, but before you could no problem. Maybe they are eating too much rum cake and drink eggnog over there =P

Re: PB problems

I seem to be connecting OK and not getting kicked now, although I still get errors that servers are using an older PB (2.028). Wierd thing is, I updated PB this morning (pbsetup) and it said it updated COD4, but the version stayed the same.

Re: PB problems

Heh, I'm not sure... I was having PB hell last night. I did something right. I ran setup multiple times, I deleted the PBA and B tasks from task manager and updated. I ran the pb test program and updated... Somewhere in there something worked.
