    Age Limit????

Just trying to get some opinions on whether or not there should be an age limit to play here. I know that there have been several issues with 2 or 3 players that have been coming on and playing here, where the maturity level hasnt been up to standard. Please tell me what you think. Not saying that they necessarily were causing problems, just that they cant grasp the thought of tactical play. And really really really dont seem to want to understand it.

If they can't grasp tactical play, then they are probably breaking the rules to begin with.

    Re: Age Limit????

i think the age limit should be 35
all these lil young 20 yr olds tend to get a bit hot headed :P

but really some of the kids can get anoyying at times but the couple that have been on while i'm playing will work with you if you talk to them
if they are breaking rules then the admins should deal with them

Age limit is a bad idea. The age limit for a game is stated on the box. It's not about age, it's about maturity.

What does age have to do with anything?
There is no age limit for ignorance or incompetence.

    Talking Re: Age Limit????

If they play by the rules I see no problem with younger players. Some of them are eager to learn and look up to older players. So be an example and treat them as equals.

The only problem is some of them talk none stop about anything and everything but will usually calm down when asked to.

The problem I see is players not respecting their elders, everybody kills me just like the youngsters. Come on now do you really want to kill grandpa? lol

I have played with "younger" players on VOIP that act/play more mature than some of the random adults we get on the server ~

How are you able to play this game when it is M-17?

I think it has to do with maturity as well as age. And the reasoning behind that is not both come with one another. Nor have I seen that they compliment one another. Take me for example...

I tend to get a little heated and salty towards asshatery but then it take a 21 year old to settle me down off line. I have seen and done things many folks have only seen in movies but its comical how quickly I get spun up. But I am digressing, Ikonic is good at bringing me out of my roid-rage.

Now, to counter that. Ikonic has his moments too. Changing maps shortly after joining getting on the server and telling people to play his way or go to hell. It is a game and we all have certain real world ****, errr... things that tend to burden us and we often bring that into the game. I am raising me hand because I am guilty of it too. But I would like to say that I do like to come into game and relieve some stress. And at some point I may find that I have gotten over my head both verbally and play-style wise. At which point I log off frustrated and saddened.

If you look at my age you will see that I should know better but I have been gaming every since I was a wee little baby and I often find myself reverting back to my "child-like" mentality. I would like to say that I for one am working on this behavior and would like others to also work on that behavior.

The server/game/VOIP/TS/Boards are a great place to go and relax and have fun.

Key thing is HAVE FUN please avoid bring real world/life issues into game. And if your 12, I would like to first ask, why are you playing this game? And then ask, do your parents actually parent?
If your between the ages of 17-70 and can play tactically, follow orders, communicate and actually be a good player then I saw "WELCOME!"

If your a lonely soul looking for a friend then I would say, join the boy scouts, play in a band, write poetry or create a new alternative fuel but dont hop on the server/game/VOIP/TS/Boards looking to "chit-chat". That is unless your a smoking hawt chica! LOL!

I love TG and all of you guys. If your a weenie in game then so be it. I am sure you will be identified as that. If you have a "girly" voice on TS dont worry about it we have all been thru that awkward part of life. I would recommend that you just keep your comments down to those that aid in situational awareness. If your going to be a chatty cathy then you may find that you are drawing unwanted comments in your general direction.

So in summary, if you can play the game, follow orders and aid in situational awareness that helps playing the game no matter what your age (17-DOA) I say enjoy. If your a tool then go back to CS:S or WoW!

    Nite!

    Re: Age Limit????

OK, maybe that was the point i was trying to make Haz, i thought this game was rated M for mature. Granted that doesnt mean that everyone that plays it will be mature. The thing is, I have noticed here lately especially, that there are some really younger players that have been frequenting the TG server and I personally have had a problem with a couple of them. The issue I had with them was brought up to a TG Admin and it was made out to be no big deal, so I thought OK this will be no big deal. The younger players didnt come around for a few days and I thought everything was going to be ok, but then they came back. LET ME SAY THIS AT THIS POINT, I DONT CARE WHAT AGE YOU ARE, AS LONG AS YOU PLAY WITH MATURITY AND RESPECT, AND DO WHATS BEST FOR YOUR TEAM!!! With that being said, Its hard to play on a winning team when you have a couple of little kids that have the I WILL SHOW HIM attitude and decide that while on your team they will feed you false information or no information at all. I LOVE THE TG community. And I would love to have everyone that plays Cod4 join our family, It would be awesome to jump on any time day or night and have full servers.

    Re: Age Limit????

    This is difficult.
We are public and as such would struggle to police this.

That's why I posted else where about a closed server for some planned TG & invited friends to have some serious fun.

In a clan you can add a requirement on age, when I was involved with a UK clan we said age 11 min but we did have a solid no swearing etc policy in force.
Then on the midnight we had a TS room barred to under 18's where these regs got relaxed.
To a great degree that worked, if junior members did not follow the rules they got booted and that alone kept them in step as they didn.t want to loose their friends.

This would be difficult to manage at TG because we are public driven.
The only thing we can do is Kick the offending immature players be they OLD or YOUNG.

    Re: Age Limit????

Also keep this in mind, IM NOT TRYING TO CHANGE ANYTHING AT TG, I just wanted peoples opinions on this and how they might handle the situation i have found myself in.

Maybe i should clarify on the exact situation which occurred. There are 2 players in particular that seem to enjoy coming to TG and playing which is great. But these 2 players somehow share a guid and have their computers set up right next to each other where they can see each others screens. When they play on the same team there is no problem at all and i told them this, the problem occurs time and time again when they play on opposite teams. They mysteriously seem to start getting a lot more kills after one of them has died. They also switch from playing the objective while on the same team to being "hunters" while on opposite teams.

When I asked them to play on the same team to avoid any "possible" problems apparently one of them went and got their daddy and told him i was accusing them of cheating and he got on their microphone and started making threats towards me. SEE WHERE THEY GET THEIR MATURITY LEVEL NOW!!!

I brought this matter up to Ikonic one night while playing, and he said "Its no big deal".

But now while playing here and they are on my team, They either wont communicate at all or they will feed me false info.

    Just frustrated is all.

    Any suggestions???

England - different ratings system. My copy of CoD4 has a recommended age on the box which is 16+, generally that is accepted as a 12 or 15 rated game. I always check with my parents before buying a game, I doubt they'd let me buy an 18 (but most 18 rated games look rubbish anyway- GTA, Manhunt etc.)

Anyway, back on topic: Like everyone says, it's not age, it's maturity.

Frankly I think this is pathetic, I'm not having a bash at these 2 people, I don't even know who they are, but I think 'mature' means that you are able to sort out your own problems, especially something this trivial.

It's about maturity, age has nothing to do with it.
