League Play?

Just curious if any talk has ever been done on starting TWL, TGL, or CAL teams for COD4. I had been playing in TWL and CAL up until recently, folks I play with wanted to start doing TGL as well, and 3 leagues was just way too much for me as I was already dedicating 5hrs a night to that beast lol. Anyway, just curious if any talks had been done on maybe having a team in one of the leagues. Laters.

Re: League Play?

Well, I see the thread has gotten tons of views but no responses so I take that as the idea hasn't really ever been pushed. So let me ask this then, would anyone be interested in being on a competitive league team? TWL, CAL, or TGL. I'm open to any, but for starting out I would recommend TWL. Thanks!!

Re: League Play?

The idea has been kicked around and some of us have done quite a bit of comp in the past. I think most of the 13th guys would be up for a casual comp team as long as the folks in charge didn't get all anal and stuff.

We do love good teamwork, comms and to kick butt in general, but most of us have real lives and this is more of an escape for us.

I think comp would be ok as long as it didn't get too serious.

Re: League Play?

The only problem with competitions is that people dont like to take extra time out of their lives other then what they already do.

Re: League Play?

When I was in the 21st, we did BFCL for 2142. We had like 3 practices or scrims a week plus planning time. It had it's rewards because the gameplay is usually far and away better than what you get on the regular servers. On the other hand, it added stress to my life whereas playing COD4 for fun is more of a release. We've bounced it around in the 13th but enough of our schedules are different that it would be hard to consistently get folks to matches and practices. Most folks just want to play and have a good time. Never say never though.

The key is having that critical mass of team mates that can commit to the schedule for the season so you have enough alternates to always have a full squad for matches. Playing down a man or forfeiting is never fun. But, that also means some folks will sit on the bench. How do you rotate? Do you always field your strongest players or does everybody get a taste? It can be a fair bit of work or it can be a breeze. All depends on the personnel.
