Re: Creek is such a great map.....
Mindkill that was funny to read. Unfortunatley it's true. I played a round on Creek earlier today and the best attack I saw was a rush to A and lots of smoke. This seemed to work but I found a way to stop it on defense. I grabbed the bomb one round and we smoked out A and with extreme conditioning rushed to the bomb site. While planting many of my team went down. After the bomb was planted I was pinned down by many snipers. I ran for cover and got killed. The only two that were left were snipers in the creek on the offensive side. Because of the amount of snipers left they were quickly killed and the bomb was defused. However, I found a way to counter this. One thing you can do on defense is use the smoke from the offense to your advantage. If they smoke the hell out of A one person run down to the brick wall by A. Then look at the site. Offensive snipers can't get you and if anyone runs up to plant you see them. And I don't think that the planters would take the time to look at the wall. I did this with another guy and we stopped the rush to A. However whenever our team waited and took our time.

What is more fun than Creek!? Sheesh, come on people.
Ok, all kidding aside (yeah right): I'd rather swallow a spool of razor wire, crap out one end, and proceed to floss myself to death than play Creek.

Re: Creek is such a great map.....
I still haven't heard an answer that doesn't boil down to, "it's too hard!". Yes, the defense has an advantage. Yes, it's a bitch and a half to beat. YES, IT IS DOABLE. Strategy is your key to winning. Not every single strategy has to involve a smoke and a rush. Here's a slight example. Pile up at caves, smoke and flash the hell out of it, storm out and move up the hill, and come around the backside to A. Just a random thought that popped into my head. Find out who your best sniper is and send him to do work! Send a heavy gunner as well! Make the opposition think you're all in different places using different firing positions. Shoot, move. While the rest of you could be in caves, next to the hill, anywhere. I WILL admit though, there could be a few more alternative routes though.. But as you said Mindkill, last you checked this is TACTICAL Gamer, so find a tactical way to beat it.
Hazy, the reason I hate Wet Work is purely because of my Xbox 360 experience. I play HCTDM and on that map, as soon as you get an airstrike and/or chopper, it's OVER. Like, you can throw that thing ANYWHERE on the map and it will absolutely obliterate. There's no overhead cover except for the edges of the ship and a container here or there.TG Primer

Re: Creek is such a great map.....
In my opinion tactics on Creek is very hard if you are up against experienced players. The map is just too open. You can throw nades, smokes and stuns all you want, the enemy can just pull back a bit or sit up high and wait for you to turn the corner trying to pick them off. And they can just throw nades down on B easy if you rush that. If you are even able to plant, you've probably lost 3/4 of your team already anyway. It's a great sniping map though. I think they should've made the map different, with more cover than there is.
I think Wetwork is actually ok, there you can atleast smoke, nade or stun areas up to lure the enemy to reveal their positions.

Re: Creek is such a great map.....
Delta, I think the reason you are having a hard time understanding why everyone is saying that the map sucks, is that you've only been playing PC CoD4 for about a month (I may be incorrect and if so, apologize). Most of us that have posted in this thread have been playing the map since its release.
I kind of take offense at your insinuations that we are all a bunch of whiners and crybabies because we want this unbalanced map taken out of the rotation. I will not lie and state that I am some sort of tactical genius, but TG has several superior tacticians and they will generally either leave when Creek comes up or pick up the bomb and state "smoke the hell out of A and rush!". It's not that we have not tried different tactics, it's that the map only allows a handful of tactics. And of that handful, most are easily defeatable by the defense.
I would be willing to play the map, as it is beautifully made and fun in other game modes. But, something has to change. I would love to think a gentleman's agreement to not use scoped weapons would work, but I think that's just wishful thinking. Also considering the accuracy and supernatural eyesight of some of our superior players, the G3 and M14 (can't remember if that's the single shot or not) are basically sniper rifles. I'm not sure it can be done, but would there be a way to only allow SMG's and shotguns? Or limit the amount of snipers per team?
We have found a tactical way of beating the map. Remove it from the rotation. By the wording of your challenge to me, it could be assumed that you would also like to see Killhouse, Shipment, and Showdown in the rotation as there has to be a tactical way of wining. They are not in the rotation because there are no tactics (or at best a couple) that work on those maps. They are also not in the rotation because, like Creek, they tend to get everyone to either leave the server or sit in spectator mode or start up the rush-fest just to get the map finished.
I think that in the end, it really comes down to the fact that this is game. We play this game because it's fun. When the game stops being fun, it becomes a chore. Most people consider chores to be work. So, according to these statements, Creek = Work. I don't come to TG to work, I come here to play tactically and socialize with friends.

Re: Creek is such a great map.....
As much as I dislike Creek, I think it should stay. Like whoever said before, I too like the challenge of offense and the joy of victory on offense. It is very difficult but it can be done with a well though out plan. I can't say the same for wetwork though. Wetworks is weak.

Re: Creek is such a great map.....
So much passion in some of these posts. Well, from the red-headed step child (I still can't log on - LOL) I have to say this.
Everyone makes good arguments either way, but it's the same as the reasoning for the kill-cam, it makes you better. You try to achieve more in the game, find a better way, even when the odds are against you.
I would bet that deep down inside, everyone plays this style because of the challenge. It is far more challenging than running around spraying, jumping around gunning things down, and running around in a circle on the map reloading.
It's work, fun work, tactical work, but fun none-the-less.
I am always trying to out flank on that map and one day I'll get the timing right when everyone else is trying to plant, and get behind them snipers all sneaky. When that day comes, I'll be victorious unto myself.
Take it away, and I will never get that opportunity, at least on TG Servers...well, I still might not...well, I guess. Anyways. That's my thought on the matter.

Re: Creek is such a great map.....
Like Mindkill said its not the idea that its too hard its the fact that there are not many ways to attack that involve tactical moves. There's only three ways to attack from. These ways are easily seen by the defense and if you wait then that gives a chance for the defense to set up. A rush is the best way that I have seen. I have seen the bomb being planted a B and it wasn't rushed but then again most of the defense was dead. Plus Delta even if you tried that plan I still think the offense would be stopped. This map is very poorly designed and that's the reason I think it should be removed.

Re: Creek is such a great map.....
I can't find the map worth playing because........... it is to much of a sniping map. its like the 24/7 shipment servers. That's what it feels like, that's why it needs to be removed. The map wasn't thought out well enough to have so many people on it. And whoever says its a large map is wrong in my opinion. There's not much strategy to a map that a majority of the map can be seen from every vantage pt on defensive side.
ps its not that its hard, its two easy for defense, and the only way for offense to win is used with smoke, you can't be sneaky in a map like this because everyone can see you from everywhere. Too open. that's what i was looking for. An open field with bails of hey would be a better, well thought out map then creek.
