Re: Metal Music??
The Dragonforce guys are incredible musicians..and the studio stuff is ok..but live they are horrible..and I wonder why.. 1/264th notes are hard to pull off! hahaha
Dime was a local guy..we used to open for them at Joe's Garage back in the day..They used to use my rack because I had all Randall stuff, and Kenny was too lazy to want to bring in all of D's stuff! hahahahah
Man..those were the days..moshing and broken noses and ringing ears...!! hahahaha

Re: Metal Music??
Slacker thats not metal that's called screamo. I agree with you that if I can't understand what people are saying than its not music. But most metal I listen to has very understandable lyrics. People think metal is just screaming and fast music coupled with lyrics about death or something but that is so not true. I can't even tell you how wrong you are about metal music. Don't confuse metal with screamo music.

Re: Metal Music??
"Technical Difficulties" is one of the easiest songs he does..not that any of them are really "easy"..but if I can play it as well as I can, then it is not super-duper uber hard..
Listen to some of the solos from the old Racer X albums..him and Bruce were light years ahead of everyone else..Yngwie was trying to copy them as fast as he could! hahahah
Ahh...the good old days!

Re: Metal Music??
Birdie they are good at what they do. I certainly couldn't do what they do lol. I'm just saying the first song I heard by them was Through the Fire and the Flames and then I heard part of another and at first thought it was TTFATF. And yes I question their speed. My friend is a guitarist and said that they couldnt play like they do in studio, which is why when you hear them live they sound bad. Just watch these vids and you will hear the difference.

then watch it live......

first sound much better...."Semper paratus, Semper fidelis, Semper validus, Insquequo mortalitas."

Re: Metal Music??
I do not even have an idea of how they do it in the studio..I have been playing since 1983, and considered it as a profession while in college, and I don't exactly "suck" as a player, and this genre is what I have practiced for many years, and I cannot play much of any of their stuff cleanly enough to distinguish the notes..! I am pretty sure they receive some "speed up" help in the mixing room and yeah..live, they are just awful.

Re: Metal Music??
Right now I'm really digging a lot of stuff that most probably wouldn't consider metal per say. Stuff like Breaking Benjamin, Seether, Chevelle, 10 Years and even the new Metallica (love that new song for some reason).

Re: Metal Music??
Yes I have heard some of it, There is too much crap, its like they tried to fit 2 or 3 songs together and couldnt make up their minds which part was best.
Give me the good ole days of SANITARIUM and ONE and UNFORGIVEN any day. I am a huge Metallica Fan, so much so that my license plate on my truck is UN4GIVN !!!! When it gets here in November that is. Just cant wrap my head around this new album though.

Re: Metal Music??
Yeah I guess your right on some things. But I really love their old stuff and then they started to suck more and more. And their last album before this one, St. Anger, sucked. And I thought this one would suck more but I was really suprised. You have to say this album is much better than St. Anger.

Re: Metal Music??
Ok, i have had this debate a hundred million times with one of my friends....Motorhead vs. Iron Maiden. In my opinion you cant really compare the two together because they are in two different catagories really. I have listened to im sure almost EVERY Maiden song and i have heard a fair share of Motorhead songs. Maiden is kinda just metal while Motorhead is more heavy metal ish. The guys voice is just terrible, sounds like he has a throat infection. Also he has to sing looking upwards with his eyes closed just to perform live, loser IMO.
