    Thumbs up Crazy idea

Crazy idea, has anyone thought of doing a boot camp or a training session one night a month? I would love to learn from haz, bronco, bubba, gunner, kisser and a some others. Have map walk through. We did this with small a group on the new maps it was great, and then we played the maps it was an enjoyable time. Also it would encourage some others to take the bomb other then the veteran players. I also think this would end the suicide runs to the bomb site, because you only know one way, better players make for better game play. What you think, and if I left you out of the above list, don’t be offended , you just have not killed me as many times as they have…….

I'm not entirely sure, but I think there is a class in the works. And I agree Redneck, there are quite a few people I would like to learn from as well. Anyways, I am sure HAZMAT will let us all know when/if a class is coming up anytime soon.

Also, you can "Request a Class" here.

Best way to get a class scheduled is to have enough people drop by the TGU forums and request a class. Do this now with all possible haste.

    Re: Crazy idea

Redneck, I requested a class way back in November when COD4 first came out.

At the time we had no one on staff in TGU to run a class.

Since then, several of our members have become TGU instructors and put on a 3 module training session in Sept.

It was an excellent training session.

Hopefully, enough will request it and it will be run again.

But in the mean time, do what you have been, and have some of the regulars mentor you in game.

And load up TeamSpeak and ask questions.

And of course, practice, practice, practice.

I requested a class about 2 or 3 weeks ago also, told HAZ to send me a PM if it was going to happen. I would love a class where we could have like 4 or 5 snipers set up on a map and then have them teach us when and where we become visible to them. ESPECIALLY ON COUNTDOWN!!!!! It would be beneficial to the sniping point of view also. But more importantly than all that, I would love to learn more about working as a team and actually getting people to commit to playing EVERY round in as tactical a manner as it can be played instead of the bomb carrier rushing off and yelling A , or yelling B, and that be the only plan we have.

    Ugh..Countdown..Sniper Fest..

You can do 2 things..sit back and try to pick off the Defense and then whittle them down to where you can plant at one of the sites, or run like hell to one of the sites hoping to beat them there and disrupt their attempts at getting clays down and getting settled.

Seems like everyone tries to rush "A" more often since it is closer, but in my mind, "B" is a lot more attractive..on Defense at "B" you have very good vision of the middle portion of the map as the Offense tries to do their thing. Including guys that think lying in/very near the spawn is a good place to try and snipe the Defenders at "A"..

At "B", you have their broadside! But, alas, a well placed 203 or 2 and anyone inside "A" or "B" site is a gonner..!

So, what have we learned..mostly that Countdown sucks! hahahhaah

So true Birdie most of the time people seem that a rush to A is best (on countdown). Mainly because if you can smoke out the front of A and if you throw stuns and flashes you can beat them into A and once in A with smoke still there you can plant the bomb, throw some clays down and defend. I hate to say it but rushes work. Now I would like to see a plan involved besides rushing but heres the thing about rushes. They either work very well or fail miserably. Nonetheless I would love to see plans worked out I mean we have 7 minutes to plant the bomb, lets use those 7 minutes. One thing I noticed about the defense at first they are always watching for a rush. So not rushing would force them to wait. On the other hand if you wait 6 minutes and leave 1 minute to plant they are ready for you. I think waiting is a good option but wait too long and it will fail too. One thing that I think people should think about during the game is this. Play the game like real life. Don't do something that you probably will get killed doing in a real situation. Of course it is just a game but I found playing that way makes me a better player. But I am not a real good plan maker and when I do make a plan they sometimes fail but I am always trying to think of other ways. I do have some interesting ideas on some maps and I will throw them out tonight or probably tuesday night. If anyone is interested on seeing some of my (hopefully sucessful) plans. Be on tonight or tommorow night.

    Re: Crazy idea

We had a really cool boot-camp map for CoD2 that we used for a short time.

It had a target range, an explosives range, and armory (to pick up weapons you'd like to practice with), an obstacle course... it also have a large objective area complete with obstacles, cover and various terrain settings. It was a lot of fun!

As fun as it was though, it never really took off. I think people would rather play and gain their knowledge & experience through trial and error than a monotonous schooling session. That said, I LOVED the boot camp sessions Leejo held for us in Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter.

I wish my computer liked CoD4 again... I miss playing it on my PC...
