Exclamation Did you know about CoD4 Server 2 Open Warfare Project?

Greetings! I wanted to bring something to everyone's attention and that is, in addition to our outstanding Hardcore Search & Destroy server here at Tactical Gamer we also run a fully modded server! Server 2 which can be located at:

Server 2 is currently configured for the Open Warfare Project Mod and has several new maps added for continued Search & Destroy excitement. The modification is downloaded by the user as soon as they join the server and along with the mod files, the maps are also downloaded by the client as soon as they join into the server. And depending on server speed and clients in game the downloads are both speedy and efficient.

For a brief overview of a few of the maps that are currently running on the server here are some screenshots of those in the current map list:

MP_Siege:

MP_CC_Night:

MP_Karkand:

MP_Subway:

MP_Yard:

MP_Metro:

MP_Ava_Tumbleweed:

MP_IC_Cod:

So as you can see there are several new maps on the server and those are just a sample of what is in store once you log into the server and get the mod downloaded.

Currently, the server is set to run in Prestige mode. That means that all players who join will make Level 55 within the first few steps, unlocking all of the weapons and perks! But there are still Challenges that must be completed and with that comes the weapon attachment perks!! So everyone starts off like it was their first time in multiplayer CoD4 but now your a level 55 soldier and you have the full arsenal at your disposal and you can add any PERK from categories 1, 2 and 3! But be aware that your coveted Silencers are not unlocked! Each weapon perk (ie., silencer, red dot, ACOG...) must be unlocked by finishing each weapons assigned marksman challenge. And as I mentioned there are NEW Challenges that must be mastered and those can be seen here:

So if the same old map rotation has you down then come over to Server #2 and give the Open Warfare Project Mod a try! There are several new maps that are extremely large and the same look and feel of Search & Destroy are still there but NOW you can enjoy new maps and also getting new challenges unlocked.

If you have any comments or suggestions please let us know what you think.

And in closing, for those who are interested Thursday nights are normally known as Server #2 nights and we would really like to see more of your stopping in and playing but shoot, I'd like to see more people on both servers all the time! So help us out by taking a look, playing a few rounds and sending us a message on what you think!

As far as I know, there are no overviews with lines drawn on them for the maps on Server 2.

From the CoD 4 Server Rules

Quote:
Defender Roles:
Defenders are to defend their objective and its immediate choke-point entryways. Defenders are not to go on hunting parties and aggressively eliminate the enemy; defenders can take any FLANKING route they like to a different objective to reinforce once:

1. It's clear that the bomb is down near that objective
2. Most or all the defenders there are dead
3. The bomb has been planted.

The primary purpose of this is to reduce the amount of lone wolfing and to maintain consistent team-play.
So, to make life easier, do what I do and just stay within sight of the objective. If you absolutely NEED to know where the lines are, then you are probably just trying to increase your kill count and that will make baby jesus cry.

Another way of "finding" the boundary lines is to draw an imaginary line from objective A to objective B. Anything behind that line is acceptable and usually a little bit on the offensive side would be OK.

But seriously, just stay near the objectives, play in a TG manner and you will be OK.

Re: Did you know about CoD4 Server 2 Open Warfare Project?

I play these maps on UK & Euro servers all are quite good as is the OPEN WARFARE mod.
I don't get too far into the mod thing but I am sure you can tweak most things.

Is there a post some where that oulines TG set-up for this mod?

Now from Mindkills post:-- it says>>> Defender Roles:
Defenders are to defend their objective and its immediate choke-point entryways. Defenders are not to go on hunting parties and aggressively eliminate the enemy; defenders can take any FLANKING route they like to a different objective to reinforce once:
2. Most or all the defenders there are dead

Can I have a little more precision please:
so if 7 are at A but the 3 at B who plant the bomb are dead you can do the above???? how do you know how many were at B???

So I assume it is meant to apply to all the nme and not just the dead at one bomb site yes.

That being the case what is most; half, a third of the nme are dead what.

Of course if all are dead it's irrelivant anyway.

I wish I could be more precise, but, as I am not an admin, I am only stating my opinions and interpretations of the rules as I have read them.

The rule which we are discussing applies to the defenders. If you are on the defending team, you can ask via VoIP or text (or look at the map via Esc (not sure if this works in OW)) to find out how many (if any) teammates remain at the contented objective. Personally, I think that if there is even just one defender at an objective, you should stay behind the imaginary boundary line between A and B and only attempt to flank into the offenses territory when there is no defense at a given objective. This is not to say that it would be OK for the entire defensive team to go to objective B, hang out for a bit, then say, "Oh noes! We haz no defender-type ppls at the other obj! Flank thru nme spawnz!!!".

Me personally, I do my best to never go into the offenses territory. The only time I ever do, on either server, is after the bomb has been planted. Keeps me from getting warned/kicked/banned. Anyways, I am sure that if there is a clearer interpretation of the rule, one of the bigwigs will come in and let us know.

And for my closing thought that is not aimed at any one person: It's more important to follow the spirit of the rules instead of the letter of the rules. So, stop trying to find loopholes in the rules to enable you to kill-hunt!

I am by far a kill hunter, way to slow for that..

Just was wondering that's why I asked, don't like to be told in game that I crossed a line I didn't know off.

Hehe, I completely understand and am pretty much in the same boat DeeJee.

I just reread my posts and found that it could be seen that I was accusing Deejee and/or Barnaby of kill-hunting. I would like to apologize to Barnaby and DeeJee for my poorly worded comments. I was not attempting to point a finger at either of you. Or anyone else for that matter. I just wanted to express my concern that the rules can be interpreted in different ways and try to persuade others to my line of thinking.

First let me start by saying, that is an excellent question!

And then add..

This is the beauty of server 2! There is no way to determine how many you killed since the tally doesnt show how many kills you have gotten or how many are dead. That means the maps are all about each team completing their objectives!

If a defender decides to go on a hunting flank to the other bomb site I can pretty much guarantee a quick demise of them since the attackers will easily see any movements towards them and quickly eliminate the threat so that they can complete their mission.

No need for that, at least not for me, I am not that quickly offended.

Like i said, i just wanted to know in advance so i can read into the rules and stuff, not like to be smacked in the head by an admin because I didn't prepare correctly.

There aren't really boundaries that are set in stone. Also as long as you are somewhere near the bomb you should be fine. And if you think you are too far hit escape and look at your map and then you will be able to tell. So far I haven't really seen too many problems with people and where they go on the maps.
