Re: Headset with mic
Sennheiser PC 350 Pro is what i use. Good mic, good sound, noise-cancellation and comfortable. You should buy something better than onboard sound though too.

Re: Headset with mic
Why use a headset thing when you can get a decent mic for a few buks, and a proper headphone for a bit more..
Both mine are sennheisers and more then decent
Mic: sennheiser E815s (yup a PA microphone used for vocals)
Headphones: sennheiser HD 25-1
(wanted to past a picture here but I am not allowed yet..
)
So just google for those headphones.
The mic is a bit over done for pc gaming use but I had it laying around here doing nothing.
But the headphones..
There is nothing better out there, all the professional sound engineers use them.
They cost a fortune but there is nothing that beats it.
Put them on with out plugging them in gives you a 20dB sound reduction of surroundings noises.
Not to mention the build quality.
Mine are almost 10 years old now and look like they just came out of the box, and believe me they have seen some wild gigs.
Sorry to go off topic you was just asking for a headset, but being a sound engineer used to be my job so I get a little over exited..
But let it be clear that you need to get a sennheiser again they are the best.
And no I am not working @ sennheiser..

Re: Headset with mic
I have the really good headset because I do some studio work, and it is VERY necessary to have good ones that fit well and sound like the sounds you are making instead of being "colored" by cheap drivers. The people I recorded for a few years ago provided mine for me and I got to keep them as a bonus as I nailed everything and we only had a couple of backtracks to take care of..I saved them a LOT of $$$ by not taking up very expensive studio time..so they let me keep them..was very nice of them..

Re: Headset with mic
It all depends on what you are doing, for this GAME, I am using a 20 or 30 dollar set that I bought at Walmart, they sound great the Mic works really well and not a lot of bucks. NOW, when I was in studio every night voice tracking my shifts for the radio station, you better dang well believe that you need some really good sounding headphones and mic. Just the Mic that I used in the studio at the radio station was like a thousand or so dollars, and the phones they gave us to use were like 500 or 600 dollars each.

Re: Headset with mic
Guys i've had the PC151, belive me the PC 350 is in a different league. The noise-cancellation for instance on these babies are so much better than on the lower series!
