Re: CoD4 vs. W@W
I've played on a couple of bolt-action only servers thinking they would be less arcadey than the game seems to be straight out of the box in mp.
How WRONG was I; people still charged about only using the boyonet but with very little coordination or team work. It just became a blade fest.
I've yet to find a waw server doing tactical missions as tg know them and so far I've not found anybody on the tg server when I look.
I much prefer a WII scenario but at the end of the day it is the GAMEPLAY that holds my attention and if both the afore mentioned exist then fan-tabby-tastic."I like a man who grins when he fights"

Re: CoD4 vs. W@W
We have had a lot of fun on the crouch server..it makes even the tiny little garbage maps better. It is a world of difference on the large maps, and everything turns into a sniper-fest for the most part, as you cannot move fast to get to cover, but still, it is a lot of fun on that server compared to the spawn raping camper newb fest on 99% of the other servers. Even the so-called "Tactical" servers lack the communication and team work found here at TG. When we all found a server to play on, we found that we are the only ones communicating and working with any kind of thought to completing the objective. Hell, even on the crouch server they will hunt you down instead of trying to plant the bomb..
WaW is pretty fun, even though I thought I would not like it since it is a step backwards to WWII. The game is what the Server Op's make it..either they let the pubbies go wild and RNG, or the other extreme like the crouch only server. It will be what we make it here at TG..
Bubba spent a lot of hours tweaking settings and testing to try and even out the weapons as well as nerfed some of the speed to slow things down some, as the stock settings let you cover the maps in mere seconds on the smaller ones.
If you have the game, come and play on the TG server and see what you think..it has a lot more cover, some things are better, some not as good as COD4, but again, it is what you decide it is.
I will continue to play both as I see people on the servers. I still would rather play CoD4 on Server 2 than anything else. I am pretty bored with the stock maps from CoD4, and the same BS of people rushing and pushing instead of just playing. On Server 2 you have FAR SUPERIOR gameplay IMHO, and it makes CoD4 much more enjoyable for me.
We have been told that the guy that did the Open Warfare Mod for CoD4 has already been working on the same for WaW, so hopefully we will see that in the near future and with the Map Making Tools already released, hopefully there will be some custom maps to go along with it.
See you guys on the servers!

Re: CoD4 vs. W@W
I still lean towards COD4....just seems to play better.....I dunno maybe when we get our style of play in our server I will change my mind but for now I think COD4 is a better game

You've heard of Tier 1 and Seal team Six right?
Were not those guys....were the 16TH.

Re: CoD4 vs. W@W
Its really the same game. Just W@W has a nice WW2 skin on it. Other than that CoD4 is far superior!
The sounds for W@W are dorked, the spatial sound positioning is dorked, the configuration and tweaking of client side settings are dorked, majority of the maps are dorked, the in game glitches are so numerous I think I have found at least 4 on 1 map, and lastly the player animations are too damn slow.
Case in point:
Going from and to prone allows players to shoot at a level that most textures dont associate as solid or soft. So, you get to dolphin dive and make amazing one shot kills! The downside to this is that you are extremely vulnerable to instant headshots as you go prone.

I've been eyeing this game and will make the plunge sooner than later. It's gotten great reviews. Gotta get my hands on a PPSh-41 which is the gun that turned the Nazi tide.
Did I read/see correctly that you can operate a T-34? If so, does that include MP?|TG-9th| TheFatKidDeath

Re: CoD4 vs. W@W
Oh thank god. my flippin game isnt workin even though i have everything updated and i have all the spec's. I get a "unhandled exception caught" i still have it for my 360 and i play via that. I'd rather have my comp work.
I've also missed the good old COD4 moments and a few not to good...We're not retreating, we're advancing in another direction

Re: CoD4 vs. W@W
Forgotten Hope 2 for BF2, I think is a better mod moe things to use, COLOR, and larger maps, not in gray scale, and it don't cost $50
If you never heard of it go here

I think it is one of the best WW2 mods ever, I do like the WW2 games but W@W can not compeate with this...

Re: CoD4 vs. W@W
In short, W@W to me is a step back from CoD4. I find the gameplay in CoD4 (multi) to be far more tense and calls for sounder tactics.
I set my hopes high for Infinity Wards release of Cod4:MW2 instead and won't bother with W@W anymore. I've already traded it for Fallout 3 (sweet sweet sweet game).

Re: CoD4 vs. W@W
Now that the "enthusiasts" have figured out how to "power level" up to max out the game, it is going to get boring really fast for a LOT of the kiddies..
Hopefully we will still HAVE a player base by the time they fix the game enough to implement the MODs for the game itself. Otherwise this game is going to die on the vine muy pronto.
The game has been out many weeks now, and I have only seen our server full once, and that was for only about an hour. I had expected it to stay populated virtually 24/7!

Re: CoD4 vs. W@W
If I can add my 2 pennies. I play COD4 and a COD2 Weapons on a server that uses Crouch only rules. They try hard to be tactical, and the crouch only, no spamming nades, no spamming through walls, no chppers, no arty, no marty, no last stand make the gameplay awesome. I would play on my fav server, TG, if they had more of this. I play TG PR but could not committ to the hours of gameplay, but now find myself playing for hours in this crouch only server. I would be happy to share with any admin that wants to PM me. Oh, and the mod they use is open warefare, Team deathmatches. I tell you, this is a real, real fun way to play. Would love to see it tried here so I can play with you all. Please take this as a positive suggestion, as it was intended. I am a loyal TG fanboy.
Oh, and they have spawn protection, FF, and no tubes or RPG....sounds stripped down, but matches go an easy 30 minutes. My complaint, not enough voip talk, but I bring that in whenever I play from my PR days and every chimes in. Then the games get real good. Squads form, tactics, angles covered. Ok, gotta go get it on...
Sometimes I rip, other times I RIP.

Re: CoD4 vs. W@W
A bunch of us have spent a lot of time on a WaW "Crouch Only" server as well. It is definitely for those that like slower game play. I would pay money to sit and listen in TS if we turned the CoD4 Server 1 into a "Crouch Only" server..!! hahahahahaha
The whining and complaining would would be second to none! hahahhahah

Re: CoD4 vs. W@W
Yeah I got it and think it is worth 50% of what I paid but it is fun and a good break from the norm. Zombie wears me out by the end lol.
