Re: Call of duty: Modern warfare 2 announced
Well, it's a business and the only way to make money is to release new product. The alternative is a subscription model. Who would be willing to pay a monthly fee to play the game if it guaranteed new content, new maps and overall polishing of the product?

Re: Call of duty: Modern warfare 2 announced
Kind of like ArmA and how they just finished patching it a few months ago and are coming out with OFP2 and ArmA 2? They could patch CoD4 with new weapons, new attachments (flashlights or laser sights like they use in the SP Campaign), and new maps.

New maps would sure be nice..I could care less about attachments and gimmicks..
It is still beyond me why they let the game out with so few maps and several of them ones included are so ridiculously flawed.

Re: Call of duty: Modern warfare 2 announced
I disagree emphaticly. Anyone here think Valve isn't doing well? They have a superior business model when compared to most of their competitors in this field, and Gabe Newell can wipe his butt with hundred dollar bills and still not fall short on cash...
Look at these valve titles:
Half life
Half life 2
Counter strike
Counter strike: condition zero
Counter strike: source
Half life 2 episode 1
Half life 2 episode 2
Portal
Team fortress 2
Valve has sold in retail (this does not include 3rd party games such as blue shift and opposing forces and does not include any digital sales over steam or pre-orders of L4D or any sales of day of defeat either vanilla or the source version and are numbers for across all 3 platforms) 29,400,000 copies total at the close of Q3 2008. (full article with the figures here http://www.gamasutra.com/php-bin/new...hp?story=21319 )
That's without figuring in sales over steam, that's roughly 3/4 of a billion dollars in revenue just from these 9 titles retail sales over the last 10 years. Add in steam revenues and we are looking at around 1.5B in revenue from just these titles. Valve doesn't charge subscription fees, they patch the hell out of their products and add in new content for their existing users for no extra charge. (on the pc, M$ wont allow patching for their 360 with new content without a charge)
Know why Activision keeps having IW and treyach keep pumping out CoD titles every year and charging full price for what is essentially a new map-pack and SP missions? Because they know suckers like us will keep buying them. Who needs to sell snake oil anymore to con people out of money when you can just get into videogame development and people end up begging you to take their money!

Re: Call of duty: Modern warfare 2 announced
Wouldn't it be nice though to throw on an ACOG/Red Dot and a silencer? Instead of just one or the other? I mean, we're supposedly Marines/SAS/Terrorists, so I don't think the commander would be like, "Uhh... We're in short supply this year even though the military uses most of our governments funding, so you can only attach this flat-screen-red-dotty thingy, this black cylinder thingy, or this scope-ma-bober that has an arrow pointing up.."
I wholeheartedly agree though that new maps would be absolutely fantastic.TG Primer

The current forum you are in is for our COD4 PC community.
We have 2 COD4 servers and 1 COD5 server. Also there is a XBOX live group, no server that I know of though.
All of TG's servers.

Re: Call of duty: Modern warfare 2 announced
Well hopefully, they will give us prestige this time. Kinda sucked how you got to lvl 55 and thats it. EVERYONE is practically 55. Also, some new, not so known guns, would be cool to added, not just all the same ones again, but keep the fan favs like M4, MP5, P90, etc. but also add guns like f2000, l85a1, ak101, and so forth. That would be cool, because you played CoD4, hoping to find some awesome guns, and its just normal guns, you already know. But also, it would be cool to have a silencer and a scope. Maybe make that after the Acog. Like 250 kills is a Red dot & silencer. Just some little things would make it better

Re: Call of duty: Modern warfare 2 announced
i'm really wanting CoD6 to make me think for at least two minutes about the kit i am creating. for me this would meen more weapons and new weapons. if you think assulte in CoD4 your mostlikely gonna thing M4, M16, or a G3 and some times an AK. if you want long rang G3, all ranges M4 and so on. but i dont want to unlock all the guns and only use a few of them.
