Going public
Just to say after some 8 weeks of being banned from the cod4 server I'm returning to the public ranks and have cancelled my subscription fee.
I have been told I'm not banned but something is not working correctly as this message appears when ever I try to log on.
ERROR
You have been banned from this server by Server Admin.
It has been suggested that I reinstall my game to fix this but as it only happens here I'm reluctant to do that as I believe I'll lose all my config/ranking if I reinstall.
Other TG servers work fine ie ArmA, Graw2, WaW etc but enough is enough.

Re: Going public
you can try to back up your game files... should be in one folder, all you should have to do is coopy that folder and place it on your desktop or a removeable HD, then you can reinstall and just past your old file folder into the cod4 place..... its a shame are you sure that you have gone through all the prper channels to see if this can be rectified??? did you contact the GO or have you even tried moving up the ladder even more to the big wigs here at TG????

Re: Going public
As far as I know I've tried everywhere.
Doing a web search using the above error seems to say it's a PB thing but nobody seems to know how to fix it.
I've never knowingly added anything other than the mods you get when you visit other sites.
I've even tried removing all those map mods but no go.
I tried the other TG cod4 server last night and I'm banned on there too.
They appear to be the only 2 servers in the whole wide world that I'm banned on.
Anyway I can not fix it without help and that help don't seem to exist anywhere so not much point in being a supporting member anymore.
Thanks for your comment Snake."I like a man who grins when he fights"

Re: Going public
If you delete the game files , there will be an option to delete the user files just save them and re-install. There are also backup programs available to preserve your data. Try CoDHQ.com. You will probably need to delete your existing PB A and B files and reinstall PB. I'll also run your GUID through again to see what we find but lets start fresh and make sure we have the right GUID.

Re: Going public
Barnaby, I have no idea what is going on. I have checked everything and according to what I have found you are not banned.
Please try it again.Last edited by Bubba; 01-07-2009 at 10:32 PM.

Re: Going public
Thanks gents
Last night [7th Jan] I tried both our TG servers again and both gave me the error shown in the opening post above.
No other world server that I try blocks me like that both PB monitored and not.
Inputing the error on a web search there does seem to be some confusion with some people getting randomly banned and no apparent fix available.
I'm digging out my guid to check on a site I've found that shows all banned guids but then as no other PB server is banning me only the TG one I'm not hopefull of any fix.
I've got rid of all my PB stuff and intend to re-install that tonight when I get home.
One thing which may be important>>> droping console and typing /pb_guid or /pb_myguid [I think that's what I was shown to type in] did not display my guid.
I tried several PB servers all did not show me my guid - is it possible I dont have a guid anymore????? could that happen???
I'll have another look tonight

Re: Going public
Barnaby, you gotta turn off the hacks that Hazmat was sending around the other day in PMs!

To cure all your PB problems you should download PBSETUP.EXE. Put it in a folder on your computer. Start it. Configure COD4 and press update. Then you are not having PB issues for sure.
If you end up reinstalling COD4 your profile is saved under /profile in the COD4 installation path. If you copy that folder out and back in after the reinstall, all the settings and achivements will still be there. I recently reinstalled so i did exactly that.
Good luck!

Re: Going public
Ok got home and did this, very much as Superfast says above.
Easy way:
1) Join a Punkbuster enabled server.
2) In console, type "/pb_plist". On this list, you'll have the last 8 digits of the PBGUID for everyone on the server.
Slightly harder way:
1) In console, type "/pb_myguid"
2) In console, you'll see your full PBGUID. (Only the last 8 digits are required!)
Punkbuster help is here!!!
youve tried everything from adding the pnkbstr.exes to the firewall (both A and B), youve uninstalled and reinstalled, cleaned the registrya nd are now running the game as admin and in compatability mode through XP....but you still get kicked from games such as bf2, bf2142 and enemy territory quake wars....
but never fear...here is a fix that has to work!!!!!
1. Make sure that you either disable your firewall (probably not a good idea) or allow PnkBstrA.exe and PnkBstrB.exe access to do things (McAfee has been known to automatically add these services to the block list).
2. Download pbsvc.exe, which is a utility to uninstall and reinstall PunkBuster.
3. Open pbsvc.exe and select Un-Install/Remove PunkBuster Service.
4. Open pbsvc.exe again and this time select Install/Re-Install PunkBuster Service.
5. After installing, it will test your services. Make sure you get a "Test completed successfully without error." message. If not, then copy and paste the results of the test here.
6. Now download PBSETUP, which is a utility to update PunkBuster to the latest version. For Windows: pbsetup.exe
7. Open pbsetup.exe. It will probably have to check for updates, allow it to do that.
8. Click the "Add a Game" button at the top.
9. Select your game (in this case Battlefield 2142) and make sure that the directory is correct.
10. Click the "Check for Updates" button at the top
It even works in Vista!
The 2nd bit following the Guid stuff worked I CAN NOW GET ON THE TG SERVER AGAIN.
I'll see if it sticks or goes awol again.
Someone might like to snip the un-install, install then run PBsetup bit as a sticky incase it happens to others.
Important to note just re running PBsetup wont do you need to follow as described above.
Odd it only affected me on TG though.
To the Gents who replied here Thanks

Re: Going public
Well I did a little in-out-in-out shoot it all about to test my TG server permissions, seems to be ok.
Followed Bronc about for a couple of rounds [using a sniper too he was and to think he gave me stick once for picking up a dead mans sniper gun tish tut I say].
Didn't have Barnaby tags on but so far so good, I'll see how it goes tonight."I like a man who grins when he fights"

Re: Going public
When you can't beat them, join them.
I lost my profile recently and leveled back up using different weapons from the first time. So now you'll see some scopes and rarely see a P90.
