The mod will not affect any other server you play on. The only time you will have a problem is if the mod on another server is named the same as ours. Other then that you will be good to go.

Sweet! I can't wait to try this out. It will be interesting to see the differences in gameplay.

Is it planned to eventually add to server 1 the realism features that are on server 2, such as removed kill notifications?

Nope. Server one is formulated to be as close to stock settings as possible with stock maps. That's why there are 2 servers. One- close to stock. Two- Realism.

Glad to hear that actually. Just me thinking in the mind of a non-TG member who likes the way we play, but wants to play as close to the original game as possible.

Re: Openwarfare Mod Comes to Call of Duty Series Games

Okay played a few hours on the server 1 yesterday (night time for me over here in Europe).

The first thing I noticed was the lay out of the new bomb sites and the spawnpoints.
On defence you spawn almost right on the bomb sites + they are placed on the far end of each map, leaving almost the entire map for the offence team to use on their attempt to place the bomb.

I played like 3 or 4 maps and in all those games the bomb was just planted like 2 or 3 times.
In other words to my opinion the game play has shifted from planting the bomb to killing the entire enemy team.
The game play indeed slowed down quit a bit compared to before the server change, so that is a + side.
How ever I can't seem to get my mind off off the fact that the bomb was just planted on a couple of occasions during a 3 hour game period.
In my eyes not by definition a good thing.

With posting this I don't mean to be negative I just want to hear other opinions about it, so let's have your input on it..

DeeJee. Here's the thing. Some months ago the 13th played some rounds by having the defense stick as close to the bombsites as possible. Nobody pushed forward at all. The result was, the bomb rarely got planted. The reason, which I've stated in a few other posts is that "if the defense would just stick to defending the bombsites then there would be no need for any defensive rules". It's the pushing forward and testing how far is too far that gets the defense eliminated and makes the offense mad.

Sticking close to the bombsites is the most effective way to protect them. The way it is set up now, the sites are placed towards the back of the map. The defenders have no need to push forward, hence the better guarding of the bombsites and less planting.

I understand that, but it kinda makes the game into team deathmatch with one team kinda glued to 2 places.
I am not quit sure if I like this way but I will give a try for a while.

Others have made this observation as well. We may end up moving some sites based on how the maps play with a full server. Our placement testing was done with a max of 6v6. With an 11 person defense on something like Ambush or Vacant, you're almost elbow to elbow.

We are also talking about playing to 4 points, like server 2, instead of 5.

This was our first go round trying to move things. If we need to change sites or spawns around to improve play we will. Please share share your thoughts on these or any of the other changes made.

For server 2, we just upgraded to a newer version of OWP that allows us move things around on the custom maps. We're going to try some site/spawn rearranging this week and update the map rotation. All the realism settings are the same as before the update and kit weights now factor into your speed.
