Re: Home Computer Work/Gaming Stations

you got the same cpu coller as I do.. great thing isn't it..
Also got an sli set up, like I used to have but since my asus mainboard died on me I am running on a replacement board witch only has room for one gfx card.
I got the sli board back from the repair shop just haven't found the nerve to place it back in..
It has a different chipset (the sli one has nvidea and the replacement has a intel) so I am afraid it will mean I have to reinstall windows again..
Not looking forward to that, so for now just 1 gfx card..

Nice Wookie!

DeeJee - I hate the thought of a reinstall. It doesn't take that long to reinstall but it's getting everything back to normal after the initial install that really bites a big one.

Re: Home Computer Work/Gaming Stations

and the fact that after reinstalling vista it takes like 2 weeks of updating multiple updates every day.
On top of that your hard disk(s) will be spinning constantly the first few weeks for the elite vista indexing service..

I hate it.. even more that I hate working..

The best thing is to just slipstream the SP1 and updates into a new install disk...then there is very little to update to get current..

that would work if my repaired mainboard has the same chipset.
Vista with all it's glory just can't handle a change of chipset/drivers..
XP can.. vista can't and another one in the pocket for xp..

hhmm strange thing is that the colours are okay while previewing my post now..
in the picture viewer within windows they looked very bad.

Re: Home Computer Work/Gaming Stations

The little LAN box is my backup gamer rig now..I use it mostly for recording my terribly bad guitar stuff..

The Dell is my folding@home box, the green box is just mostly for ripping/burning dvd's, and the big black box is my main gaming rig..it is on the floor now, the little box is in another room, and on top of the Dell is now a Win7 test box (which kicks butt so far compared to Vista)
