    Need help getting on

    All I am having a problem and I am turning to the experts we have here for help. I have not been on for months. I am now trying to get on and play a little. I have the new server IPs and have a great ping to them. I click on the server I want to join and it goes to trying to connect then counts to 10 and kicks me out. There is also the awaiting key code authorization on the bottom. Then tells me it could not connect to server.
    Any thoughts?

    Just for the sake of troubleshooting, try removing your router from the equation and connecting that computer straight to the dsl/cable modem, or whatever you're using.

    It's not exactly the sort of symptom you normally see, but some games (like BF2, World In Conflict) have strange problems with routers not keeping their connection to the master key authentication server long enough.

    I get this problem if my PC's been up for more than a few hours... I usually have to restart the PC before playing either of the above games online, or else I'll get kicked out of them a couple of minutes after joining a server.

    I have the patches up todate but I haven't checked the punkbuster. Where is the best place to update the pb?

    As for the router deal. I'm on the hotel wireless so I am limited to what I can do. It took me two days to get them to open the ports to even see the server so if it is that I am just SOL!

    Heya Sledge! Long time no see buddy. Glad to see you are still kicking around. Anyways, on to your problem...

    For PB, click here. Simply jump through the hoops and download PBSetup. Run it after it's completed downloading.

    From the little bit of info posted so far, I would have to agree with Balfa. It does sound like the network traffic is being blocked by the hotel firewall/router. But, it might be the built-in firewall (or any other firewall you may have installed) and UAC (if you are using Vista) thats causing the problem. The ports that need to be open are listed here. If you need help opening ports or making sure CoD4 and PB are allowed by windows, lemme know and I will do my best to help.

    Ok Sledge, been doing a bit more looking around and found that the error you are getting doesn't have anything to do with ports. It refers to the installation of PB. Evidently, you do not have it installed correctly. So, go back to the link in the PM I sent you and start from the top and work to the bottom of that page to make sure you have everything installed correctly and in the right directories. Also, make sure that when the game is running, you have both PnkBstrA.exe and PnkBstrB.exe running.
