    new to COD4 online

    Hello all,

    I have had COD4 installed for a while however I have never played it online. I have played online with TG in ETQW and more recently with L4D.

    Is TG taking in new players for COD4? I would hate to be the pain in the ass noob to a whole bunch of COD vets. Where should I get started?

    Hey and welcome.... im on TG a lot and it usually gets busy in two hours from now

    The IP address to the servers are

    70.87.55.26:28960 for server 1(this server hasnt been busy in a while)
    -

    70.87.55.30:28960 for server 2 the MOD server (this server has been VERY busy recently there is new maps etc thanx to drona)

    i not sure about taking on new players... but you are more than welcome to come on and have fun.

    Hmm I get the error "IW3MP.exe has stopped working" when I try to launch the multiplayer version of COD4. Anyone have any idea as to what is causing this?

    It launches fine in single player mode and I just updated my punkbuster versions. Running Vista64.

    sorry dude no idea about that try taking this to Call of Duty - Technical Support & FAQs this could help ...surely some 1 had this problem before

    Welcome man to Call of Duty 4.
    First off Read the rules of both the servers. here

    You may find useful items in this part of the forum Click!

    As Sean stated earlier the ip's for the servers are in his post or in the bottom of my signature. Server one is stock maps with changed spawns and bombsite, while server two is new maps and more realistic as in no hit indicators, etc.

    As of the problem with starting I have no idea.

    If you got any questions about anything about it while playing players should be willing to help you. Once again welcome to COD4

    Found it. Just FYI in case it happens to someone else.

    "Open the game’s installation folder (usually C:\Program Files\Activision\Call of Duty 4 - Modern Warfare) and open the “miles” folder. Rename mssmp3.asi to something else like mssmp3.bak. Whatever the file does, it shouldn’t be missed too much, and it should instantly fix the problem."

    The problem is with a specific audio driver. Using a usb headset instead of the onboard audio card will enable to launch without errors. But without the headset the above is your best bet.

    about being new to the on-line game..
    Just join the server and get to know all the freaks in it, get to know the maps, the style of playing, the rules, the do's and the dont's.
