Post not as busy as it was

I remember when i first joined TG and the mod's were not around i dont think, it was ALWAYS busy around night time in UK.... if u wernt a supporting member u were always kicked to make room for paying members.... thats how busy it was when i first started playing for TG...but to be honest since the mod's has started it on tg hasnt been very busy... dont get me wrong i like them but there not very fun when theres hardly any one on... so why doesnt tg just go back to normal.... forget the mod's and see how we get on the normal cod.... plus it increases the chances of new people coming on to TG because they can go straight on without downloading anything, if i was wanting to have a game and i go on a random server and i have to download the mod i would just cancel it and look for a non-mod server

so why not go back to normal (no mods) and see if it gets more busy.

I gotta agree with sean on the server being bussy when I first started playing on it.
Over the last few weeks it has become more of a gost town..

Lest indeed try to see if we all can agree to have server 1 without any mods.
Let's see if it fills up a bit again, if so keep it without the mod, the hardcore TG gamers can always gather on server 1 and wiht enough people on it jump over to server 2.
Maybe they dragg some new people into in as well.

Re: not as busy as it was

I'm considering all the options available to us. I think Server 2 has a decent setup with the mod and the gameplay is great when it gets chugging. The current slow down happened right after the new unranked version of the mod went live so I don't rule it out as a reason for server pop. being down. Is not having Create-A-Class that big a deal to people that they would stay away? That's really the only change from the last version besides some fog on a couple of maps.

We can definitely change things up on Server 1 - stock vanilla hardcore with stock maps and locations, for instance. It could also be mixed mode. If there are TG folks that want a straight up vanilla hardcore server, we can offer it. What I hear from some folks, time to time, is that they just want blow stuff up and kill people. They're not really interested in superior teamwork as much as they just want to blow off steam after a long day. Is that what we need to add to the lineup...make Server 1 a bit more casual place to play? But if folks' focus is just on kill count or score and not necessarily completing an objective, that's not really what we are promoting here. A server full of lone wolves out kill hunting doesn't seem very TG to me.

We'll never please everyone with our setup but everyones' opinion is important. Please chime in with thoughts and suggestions.

so what you are saying is that if server 1 does become a normal setup (no mod) people who hasnt played tg will not play tactically, blow stuf up, and dont play as a team?

I think that leaving 1 server as the modded one, and then having the other a standard hardcore S&D. Then people have the option. There's not much point in having two empty servers running the same thing. After all TG is just as much about educating people as it is just to play tactically. If we can introduce people to the TG way of playing on a standard game mode they may decide they like it and come to our other server.

Server 2 is traditionally the modded server and will remain so. Server 1, we can talk.

Have you ever visited a pub CoD4 server? 90% of them are sheer mayhem with no comms and no team work. That's the crowd we'd be inviting in with a vanilla HC server. We've handled it before, but it's work to get them up to speed on our rules and expectations.

I know how you feel in how hard it maybe to teach them, but look at the benefits, a steady server that eventually we will have a bigger player base and you will meet some new people.
People that think tactically will stay and be the person that maybe the next admin or TGU teacher etc. People who don't will either change their mind and stay, leave willingly, or kicked etc. There are a lot of people out there that will play by their rules its just a matter of fact that you got to be nice to them when they join and not immediately yell at them when they make a simple mistake. You have to explain the rules. (btw i was talking in general)

    Yeah thats cool

But i strongly feel we should remove the mod from server 1 and use it more regularly i think more new people will come on there... and use the mod server somtimes.

dont get me wrong drona i think what u have done with server 2 is SUPERB absolutely amazing! but just doesnt get busy

One key factor to consider when returning Server 1 to vanilla HC is that a regular admin presence is necessary. Otherwise it degrades to the level of most other public servers. It is the constant admin supervision (warn, kick, ban) that reinforces the message that you must adhere to the TG way of play. With the admins maintaining order on the server we can attract and retain new, quality players who enjoy playing in the manner that we do. And then we can introduce them to Server 2 and the new experiences that it offers.

true i forgot to mention that, but if we have kick vote on the doesn't have to be as much admins on because i think some of the regulars could help out on telling the rules.

Re: not as busy as it was

The main reason we don't have a whole lot of admins doing work right now is because there's no new people showing up on the servers. Or, very little anyways.

I think going back to a vanilla hardcore would be a nice change since both servers are basically running the same way. We have enough admins right now to watch over server 1 IMO.

Looks like a discussion is open in the admin forum on what to do with server 1. So, voicing your opinion would be great right now. Just a friendly reminder though. The servers have been changed many times over the last year or two and it's really hard to please everyone. If you recall at one time, server 1 was changed at the request of a lot of people and then it ended up emtpy in no time at all. Be careful what you wish for. Just had to put that out there.
