crouch only?
Hi, I searched the forums and could not find a conclusive discussion. I played BF2 PR a lot on our servers. Been playing COD4 now and COD5. But I find the play of the "crouch only" servers to be great. Has there been a discussion on this or has it been considered? The servers I play this on are always full. Could bring a lot of traffic this way. COD5 has crouch only too.
I have seen a few TG on these servers and wonder why didnt our great community try it?

I personally think that the TG servers don't need to resort to such a gimmick to have tactical play. It's done on other servers to stop the run and gun and slow down the play some. I find it unrealistic, and although I see it's place on some servers, I hope we don't start that here. Just my thoughts on it.

Personally, I would rather play on a modded server where the movement speed has been lowered, instead of attempting to enforce an arbitrary rule. I know our CoD 4 Server #2 has the Open Warfare mod installed and I am pretty sure that the movement speeds have been lowered. For CoD 5, we have the SOG Tactical mod running which, for the most part, bases a players movement speed on the kit they are using.
To answer your question, someone else will have to help you. But, I for one, am very glad TG uses mods as a speed limiter instead of a crouch-only rule. It allows for more flexibility in squad movements, while keeping the game easy to administer and the gameplay tactical.
You should give our SOG modded CoD5 server a try. If you are a tactical junkie like me, I am sure you will love it. Or, if you would like to get on Birdie's good side, check out Server 2 on CoD 4. Good tactical play is available there as well.

crouch only is a big camp fest. It is so easy to get into a good spot and nail every slowing sucker that attempts to get anywhere near the objective, it is good for improving your k/d ratio though.

Yea that's pretty much my experience of crouch only servers.

though most seem to disagree with the crouch only concept, I have to say thank you for posting it up, we are ALWAYS open to ideas and suggestions to improve gameplay, any time you guys think of something its awesome to post it up for conversation, thanks!!!

If I crouched through an entire round...I would probably end up with no points. Lol. I like running around, you get somewhere a little quicker. I don't think I'd enjoy it. Just my opinion though.

i play on a crouch server in WaW and really kind of like it. i take a different approach to that game though too. i kind of have a hybrid tactical style for those servers very fun when no one is around to play with.

On crouch only servers I hate getting yelled at for running through a choke point, where I know I will be taking fire. Seems silly to me.

99% of crouch only servers are TDM. I have played on some good crouch only servers and some really bad ones.
All you simple need to do is turn down the game speed. Out of the box the game is set to pure Run and Gun game play that's what it was made for. But even on a non modded server there are things you can do to help the game be a bit more tactical and game speed is one of them.
