New Case
Ok guys I got a corsair Obsidian 800D case for Christmas so i went from this
PC280009.jpg
to
PC300005.jpg
this in a matter of 2hrs.
once I got it all up and running again I started on the new case.
The first thing was to get the drill out and start drilling rivets out taking screws out and removing stuff I don't need.
Here is the link to the original picks.http://www.pccasegear.com/index.php?...ducts_id=12727
and here is what I've done so far
PC300001.jpg
PC300002.jpg
Now once everything was out, I moved the HDD hot swappable bays down to the bottom of the case to give me some more room for the liquid cooling gear.
So now Its time for the templates for the mobo tray and bottom tray.

Thats as far as I've got with the case as I have to wait for the sheet metal shop to open after new years.
So I did a little sleeving and soldering job on the new fans...

Re: New Case
I practiced on my old case first and did alot of research into what people have already done, so I had a good idea of what i wanted to do before i started.

Re: New Case
Next update
After doing the rounds of just about all the local sheet metal and alloy workshops and being disappointed at every turn I ended up at Bunnings(the local hardware)......not exactly what i wanted but a start
So I grabbed my template and started measuring and marking......I started with the MoBo tray did most of the cutting with the snips and did a couple of test installs some filling and some more marking ,some drilling some more cutting (with the dremal) and finally it took some kind of shape.I used the MoBo standoff's to hold the new tray to the old tray.
P1130001.jpg
P1130003.jpg
P1130008.jpg
Next was the bottom/side tray, again came the template. some more sniping dremaling filing. But no fitting I got to go back to one of those sheet metal shops to get the 2 bends I need to put in the bottom tray.
P1130002.jpg
I'm going to use the fan mount's to hold the drive bay in place
P1130010.jpg
P1130009.jpg
And I'm still toying with the idea of a fan there as well to cool the drives
But I'll think on it ( got a bad head ache....I walked into a low shelf in the garage and punch a hole in my forehead * Stumbles off holding head in a dayz*)
003.jpg
I did a test fit up of the new Rad and Res to see how and where it will all fit but I think I need the MoBo in there as well to decide.
more updates soon

Re: New Case
Next
I found a place to get the folds done on the bottom tray.....while I was on the phone out side he did the small fold the opposite way to what it should have been,so I had to cut that section off and make a bracket and rivet it on.

003.jpg
002.jpg
007.jpg
still some more holes to put in (Gpu power Sata and front panel wiring) so another update next week(night shift over the weekend)

Re: New Case
Update
Some more measuring cutting grinding and filling. The holes for the 24pin 8pin and HD/Pwr/USB are done, I decided to use a couple of the original grommets for the 2 smaller holes ,the Res is mounted along with the pump and no that's not the way all the fittings are going to be set up I just left everything connected I just wanted to get it all positioned and holes done ready for the power coating
001.jpg
006.jpg
With the Mobo tray and bottom tray just about finished I've started on some of the more fiddly jobs...The first one was the molding around the Hd bay I used a piece of 10x10 alloy 90 and cut and filled to get required finish
Before
004.jpg
After
011.jpg
I also did the hole for the pass through and drain (sorry for the crappy pic)
007.jpg
I don't have enough sleeve to do all the psu (until I get my next order) so I started on some cable management, I did some sleeving on the fans, led's, pump and also where and how it would all go.
013.jpg
Stay tuned more to come....

Re: New Case
already got the plans a goin in my head. ill have about 2 big ones to spend plus a little change, im thinking: i7-mobo combo, 12 gigs ram, two ssds, two nvidia GPUs or a massive fermi if they ever come out and about a 1000 watts, should get me a nice foundation to start with.
have you thought about putting colling on your NB + SB?? might be a little excessive but the looks is what counts right??? i hope that your build continues to go good and look forward to your updates

Re: New Case
Your new build sounds Great Wish I had the money for all the new hardware....But the minister for war and finance (the wife) said NO so I did think about NB+SB cooling but the Mobo is a little on the aging(EP 45T Extream 775) side so I will do full liquid cooling for the X58 board and ram as well here is the link if your interested http://www.mips-computer.com/ They got some awesome stuff.
