Black Ops
Anybody think this will be worth buying.
I looked at the trailer and it didn't show me anything but some new weapons.

Re: Black Ops
At least it has dedicated servers this time. I'll be buying it no matter what. COD is still my favorite game.
This video is kind of funny.... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NYGlWjIKoY4

Re: Black Ops
Hehehe.. I saw that video posted in the BC2 forums. Funny stuff.
As for CoD BO, I dunno if I will buy it or not. I haven't really looked into the game all that much. Most likely, I will wait until after the game is released so that I can read some honest reviews from gamers.

Re: Black Ops
Me too Birdie.
Depending on the dedicated server model they end up using, TG should be able to host a server. Treyarch's CoD5 had some nice maps. On the modded server we ran Airfield, Downfall, Outskirts, Roundhouse and Cliffside. We also ran Station, Knee Deep, Bonzai, Makin - day and night, even Breach. Pound for pound we got a ton of mileage out of some of those original stock maps and the follow on DLC. Hopefully Treyarch will come through for us again.

Re: Black Ops
You know I thought i washed my hands of the COD title, but if they are having dedicated servers, I might take the route of MK, a wait and see approach. But again lets hope this game comes back full circle, I cant explain enough how much I miss this title!

Re: Black Ops
I too hope the best with Black Ops. IGN had a small MP peek here: http://pc.ign.com/articles/111/1111269p1.html
So it seems it will have dedicated servers and will be close to COD:WaW but in a modern time. Offcourse there are small new extras like the camera you can plant, prone, bomb car and guns etc, but all in all it looks like we can have some tactical VOIP teamwork going like on the earlier in the series, not like with MW2. New maps and upgrade graphics as well offcourse. But i'm still gonna wait until release or after even to be sure in these hard PC gaming times. But i'm positive here and there will be more news in september about the game.

Re: Black Ops
From what I have been reading on the BO forums at www.callofduty.com, I am starting to lean towards not buying the game. From the sounds of it, BO will be using an enhanced WaW engine, which is what MW2 used. Also, people have stated that, after viewing the gameplay videos, BO looks similar to MW2 in the same way that WaW looked similar to MW1.
Also, after following a series of links, I ended up on this article. This has made me lean heavily towards not buying this game. The game could be the best thing since sliced bread (or cosmic brownies
) and I would still not buy it, just to show my displeasure at the type of business model discussed in the article. I am aware that the article is talking about console games but, as we have seen, the major game dev houses are more than happy to shove consolified titles down PC gamers throats . Then, after some thought it occurred to me that this could be good for PC gamers if the console gamers do the right thing and boycott the game. Then I remember the stereotypes of console gamers and I get depressed again.
So, my position really hasn't changed all that much, I will still wait to see what happens after release.
p.s. Time for BO to have its own sub forum?

Re: Black Ops
I have it pre ordered....dedicated servers did it for me, MW2 would be a decent game if you could kick/ban the a$$hats

You've heard of Tier 1 and Seal team Six right?
Were not those guys....were the 16TH.

Re: Black Ops
I just read that Gameservers.com will be the exclusive provider of Black Ops dedicated servers. Gameservers.com is an excellent provider. They host our CoD4 and CoD5 servers currently.
This probably means that the server files will not be included in the release. For CoD titles prior to MW2, the files were included and anyone with an internet connection and a box to put the game on could host a server without a middleman.
