Re: CoD4 --Opinions?
Played a few hours yesterday, I am not to impressed with the SP. Its feels a little like your watching instead of playing and even on hard its way to easy with all you team mates doing all the work I guess that happens when you create the game for consoles and PC it just feels a little "arcadish". I only play the first 3 first missions so maybe it will get harder and more engaging.
The graphics is good and I like the setting. I just was not to impressed with the graphics after playing crysis on high. I ended up starting up the Crysis demo just to see the great Crysis graphics and physics again. ![]() Anyway its still a good buy. I will get into some MP today/tonight. |

Re: CoD4 --Opinions?
Picked the game up yesterday. I was worried about whether or not I could run it; I can run BF2 on high settings no problem, but the shooters coming out today seem to be tech hogs. Not only can I in fact run the game, but it runs smooth. Granted, I've got most things turned off or on auto, but even with what are probably "low" settings, the game looks amazing. Once I build my new rig in a month or two and turn everything on... heh.
Only played about 5min of the SP campaign, just to familiarize myself with controls, then jumped into MP. Pretty sure I died like a dozen times before I got my first kill. The learning curve for me was pretty steep at first; the game is very fast-paced and unforgiving. Basically if you're taking fire, you're probably dead. I adjusted well enough though. I was on a server that ran S&D mode to the best of 7 games each map, switching sides after 3 games. I really like how this is done. And, more importantly, I like that each side (allied and opfor) has access to the exact same gear types. One of the thing that bugged the hell out of me with BF2 was the different weapons that each side had; supposedly equal, but really not. One of the other things that's cool so far is the sheer amount of maps- it was something like 2 hours before I hit the map I started on again. I also like how everything (bomb, target sites, round-earned perks like UAV) are clearly marked but totally unobtrusive. The game is very easy to navigate. The experience and perk system is pretty cool. After like 3 hours of playing (and mostly sucking), I got to I believe rank 12 or 13 (Staff Sergeant II or something). Created my own class, which really is altogether useless on pubs actually, due to the run and gun . Gave my guy an AK47, USP .45 sidearm, 3 flash grenades, Stopping Power for increased bullet damage and Deep Impact for penetration. Basically billing my guy as an entry man, with only medium range but high firepower. Played around with the Last Stand perk as well, but people have quickly learned to pump a few extra bullets into you in case you have it.The only thing I don't really like is that the crouch is "sticky". That is, instead of crouching only when you have the button pressed, you press it once to crouch and stay that way until you hit the stand button. Not a fan of that because it makes me feel slower, but I'll get used to it. This is my first COD game, and I give it a big thumbs up so far. Can't wait for our server to come up.

Re: CoD4 --Opinions?
Loved the single player from the get go... The first mission had me laughing with satisfaction. All the missions after those are intense. Linear but that is why CoD makes its gaming experience so enjoyable and fun.
Original CoD grabbed me so tight when I first played it. CoD2 did not. But I was grabbed again by this one. Helicopter mission, the sniper mission jus, and all those are just awesome. Like watching a interactive movie. But these ones you have to complete it with one try to truly enjoy it. The dogs were a welcome addition to the suspense as well. Anyway love the MP. I think I am active to gaming again. Damn it. |

Re: CoD4 --Opinions?
Dogs? You mean guard dogs? As in, guard dogs guarding an enemy base? I hated killing the dogs in Medal of Honour Allied Assault. It's not nice...

Re: CoD4 --Opinions?
Give me the M16 anyday. M4 is good and all but at longer ranges, M16 has better accuracy and better damage. I have 2 assault set ups right now. One for basic assault with long range capabilities (M16 with ACOG, C4, stopping power and deep penetration) Pretty much only a good sniper can win angainst that at long ranges. And a stealth assault (M4 w/ silencer, bomb squad, UAV Jammer, and steady aim. When i get Dead Silence ill prolly put that in there. Both are great but the first is more for long range and the M4 setup is great for short to medium range. Everyone will likely find their niche gun.
I love the MP so far. Pubbies are run and gun yes, but thats not so bad for me now anyway. A Hardcore Search and Destroy or Sabotage would prolly fit great at TG though. Hardcore is definately more realistic. One - two shot kills, no HUD, FF on. Throw in no respawns and it definately ups the tension and teamwork. For those that like to be able to respawn, Sabatoge is great. Its basically like S&D cept the bomb is neutral and both teams fight over planting it and defending against it. And there is a respawn delay as well to help assualting. |

Re: CoD4 --Opinions?
No, based off your IP the game will determine you are not from the USA, the attack dogs will be replaced by little baby puppies. Their overall cuteness will distract you causing the enemy the sneak up and shoot you in the back.

Re: CoD4 --Opinions?
I'm amazed at how well the MP scales. I played Headquarters mode 2 vs 2 for over an hour this afternoon, and had a blast.
Yes, the rabid dogs hate the British too. Sorry.

Re: CoD4 --Opinions?
Played sabotage today, and man what a blast. I was having a ton of fun even with just 6 people. Having played all the modes except for domination, its safe to say sabotage and S/D will probably be the go to modes for TG. Cap the server population at 16-20 and maybe put the respawn timer for sabotage at 15 second and itll be great.
Oh and snail, you're right about the m16. I gave it a whirl and man is it accurate and powerful. Its worse at close range though. I think i thought it sucked because I tried it when i first had the game and would have sucked regardless of which weapon i had. |

Re: CoD4 --Opinions?
Played thru the SP game in 1 night and loved it. Especially loved the scene at the end on the bridge. Played the MP a bit but would like to play one of the more tactically viable versions than just shoot everything that moves.
