I've been working on a map for about a week now, off and on. It could use some final touches such as ground cover and smaller misc. items to make it look more realistic. But, it is freakin' huge! There's a lot to it so far. My question is probably for the admins but, can I upload it somewhere on this site to have you guys try it out? It's definitely a snipers map. I have tdm and s&d setup on it.

Re: New map
Upload it to http://www.filefront.com/
You may have to register on the site and then setup your personal space.
From there you can create a link to the map which you can post in this thread.
Hope this works. Here's the link. I know there's issues with making the minimap so, I didn't even try and get it to work until the next patch for the maptools. Let me know what you think.
12.5, since you are a SM -- you already have your own personal webspace! Just one of the cool little features you get for supporting the community and games you enjoy playing with us!
Is this your first effort ever at making a map? How difficult was it?
Just a couple notes, like you mentioned there's very little cover in the middle of the map, so it's definitely going to be a sniper's paradise. I'm not sure how many people are going to enjoy that. If you could add a lot more buildings, then it would feel more like a Battlefield map, since the map is a decent size. Oh yeah, and the nightvision doesn't work at all. That could come in handy inside those dark buildings.
On these towers, was this intentional, or just an oversight. When you climb the towers, you can only walk on the railing and not the platform.
And in this building, it seems you have an invisible floor.
Yeah..first map. I agree it needs more in the middle. I have absolutely no idea why the night vision doesn't work. I'm wondering if I missed something during the design on that one.
Um...as far as the invisible floor...uh...I thought I fixed that..lol
The water towers are a prefab that I had to modify to make you able to climb it. The prefab doesn't allow climbing. I was kind of guessing that the size of the person up on the tower wouldn't be able to even fit on the grating so, I made it so you walked on the top of the railing.
Making the map was pretty much a big headache. It seems like the tutorial on making them for COD4 isn't very complete. The forum helped a lot. I'd recommend at least trying it if you have the patience.
For some reason I wasn't able to get into the test server for my map. It says it wasn't able to load the loadingscreen. I've uploaded those to filefront as well. Didn't realize it needed that to run.

Re: New map
I can recommend putting a tunnel system under the hill.
Perhaps having the entrance at the base of the attacking side hill with the exit in that house next to B.
Great idea. Never thought of a tunnel. Hopefully I can conjure that up with my limited skills...lol. I'll give it a try this week sometime. And fix the couple of problems that were already mentioned.
It is not often that I encounter across myself when researching a topic. I found the following in a recent article on the uses of ethnography in virtual environments:

Took a gamble and got a refurbished 30 GB OCZ Vertex 1 off of NewEgg for the low, low price of $30. Had some trouble getting the drive to be recognized by Windows or by my BIOS. Had to use a jumper...
It has been almost 6 months now and I am still waiting for the second peer-review report to come in for my next book (this one is on the future of television).
