Discussion: Call of Duty Archives / Call of Duty - Maps and Modifications - New map additon and removal? - With all these new maps coming out and Bubba putting them on the server I
With all these new maps coming out and Bubba putting them on the server I was curious as to how long they stay on the server?
-If a map is not very good does it get removed?
-Are we just adding all the new maps and leaving them on the server unless a request is made to remove them?
-Are some of the new maps on the server but not in rotation and need an admin to run them?
-I love the variety but it takes me a while to really learn a map. If we saturate the server with a constant flow of new maps we won't play each map often. Does anyone else see that as a problem?
This isn't a complaint post just some observations and I was curious as to what the others thought? I am really enjoying some of these new maps but have only played them a few times so I can't say if they are going to be good in the long run.
I agree with you 100%. It takes me quite awhile to figure out what the heck I'm doing on a new map.
I'm hoping my map will get put into rotation but, then again, it's another map for everyone else to learn. I won't be offended if it doesn't get used.
Some of them are not that fun to play. It doesn't seem like there are many places to hide. Is there a post already or a link to what maps are in rotation right now? Maybe we can all vote on which ones we like and when some better maps come out, the bad maps can get ditched.
Typically the ones I post are the ones, that I think are pure quality. There are a surplus of maps coming out each day, but most are not very good at all. So I look out for decent maps, and post here. If they look like quality, we'll get them on the server. Also, we'll be removing ones that have errors, and problems, like balancing issues, and may come back to them later if they are fixed.

Re: New map additon and removal?
Do I find having too many new maps a bad thing. Umm... NO!
I especially don't want to play a "new" map every other map either.
So yes I like the surplus. I hope I don't become overexposed to a new map and never want to play it again like the stock maps.
Undead pretty much hit it on the head. New maps come out all the time and some are just not up to any kind of measure. Though some have some rough edges and are usually ironed out.
So these maps get playtime and feedback to the developers. So when a new version is released. The new version replaces the previous version on the server.
Yes actually a couple of maps are on the server that require an admin to load.
Though they are maps that might be of dubious quality.
Thanks for the replies and answers. As long as maps that are in need of improvment are removed I will be happy. I just don't want to have lots of new maps soley because there "new".
Good luck with the map 12.5 take your time because it seems like some of these new maps are pumped out to quickly. A lot of them look like a straight import from COD1 or 2, textures included.
Eight months later I finally received the reports from three peer-reviews on my latest manuscript with the University of Toronto Press. This will be my third book with the same press and the second...
