So if we cant fix WRM...
I personally cant stand the no zoom on the sights, and was wondering what other peoples opinions were.
My view on it is that the lack of zoom on the rifles makes them inferior to every other weapon, and makes it stupid to actually choose the standard rifles as your weapon. Sure, its usually one hit kill, but just getting that hit is too difficult when you take away its biggest advantage of having a lil zoom.
Also, i dont know if its entirely inaccurate to have a lil zoom on the rifles. Sure, you dont literally have a scope on the rifle. However, in real life if your aiming down the site, your eyes would focus on a specific area and you would "see more". The zoom effect, i think, is a way to mimic the ability of your eyes to focus more when your peripherals are taken away due to the fact that your looking down an ironsight.
However, i do like the bleed, king of the hill, and the effects of getting shot in different parts of your body that are in the mod, and would love to see those stick around. For that reason, this poll is based on IF its impossible to fix the iron sites of the mod.

Voted: keep the existing mod
I really like the effects of this one, it slows the game down nicely and keeps you on your toes.
The 1 zoom issue with the bolt-action rifles is a big one but seems easy enough to edit.

Re: So if we cant fix WRM...
Was the problem that the server wouldnt recognize our updated mod files? Or just that we didn't know how to go about doing it?
ie. change the enfield_mp, etc. files to have adsZoomFov\10\ instead of adsZoomFov\80\?

Re: So if we cant fix WRM...
I vote to keep it. The gameplay with this Mod is amazing, like no other.
I agree, I really want zoom back.
The dev of WRM said:
"When you turn off noWeapZoom, the map is required to restart. Also, the players may need to reconnect to get their weapon zoom back. I've fixed that problem since the first beta release, I just can't remember if it's part of the second beta or still in testing on our server."
Unfortunatly, it isn't working right. I wondering if somehow it got hardcoded... which is why I suggested a clean install. I know it will be a pain to re-upload, but it might solve our problem. I mean, we could spend days trying to fix it, or could spend an hour or so re-uploading.
It's up to Bonehead though. If there is anything I can do to help with this, please let me know.

Re: So if we cant fix WRM...
if no zoom i say we find something different. but thats just me. I really dont like not playing with a zoom on the rifles. It feels too awkward.

Re: So if we cant fix WRM...
Looks like the server is down right now, but has anyone tried deleting the local auto-download files and reconnecting?
That might work, or you could just do as I've posted and edit each individual gun's zoom settings in the .iwd file. :/

Re: So if we cant fix WRM...
im with B on this....if the weapons cant zoom the sniper rifle is over powering and makes it harder for those without one to keep up....not saying they cant, but its un fair to them....them being those in our sites.....
i love the mod tho.....getting shot and seeing my gun hit the dirt is great....that sounds like a good idea trooper.

Re: So if we cant fix WRM...
I like the mod. Working with rifles all day both with and without scopes I myself do not see what the zoom affect is with iron sights. In real life you do not have a zoom with the iron sights. Just my opinion. The mod is fantastic and if keeping it means fix the zoom then go for it.

Re: So if we cant fix WRM...
I just PMed Wolfbane, and asked him if he can re-install the Mod for us himself. I think there is something we are missing. I was reading the forums and he was talking about folders and such which I don't see on our server.

Re: So if we cant fix WRM...
Ok, I'm getting somewhere here.
The installation is wrong.
We both misread the Manual when it said "Create a folder called “wrm” in your Call of Duty 2 home directory (not in \main, but in the same folder as \main is located, normally Call of Duty 2\wrm). Extract the files to that folder."
We thought that meant to unzip the WRM Version 6.5b beta.zip into a new folder called wrm. We tried that, but the Mod wouldn't run. So we moved it to the \main folder, and the Mod worked. However, we have been having problems with the Mod.
But, what I did not realize is, that the files in the WRM Version 6.5b beta.zip with the .iw extension are actually a type of zip file, and what the Manual meant was the unzip those two .iw files into the main\wrm folder.
On my own computer I extracted the .iw files using WinRAR. Inside those .iw files are folders \info , \maps , and \weapons.
What we need to do is create the wrm folder, extract those .iw files, and then upload those folders into the \wrm folder.
We also need to make sure that the actual unzipped .iw files are not on the server, only the extracted folders should be uploaded.
The wrm.cfg should be in the \main folder.

Re: So if we cant fix WRM...
I hope nobodys misunderstanding. If we can fix the problem, then id LOVE to keep this mod because of the cool features it has in it. The poll was based on if we cant fix it, but it looks like gonzo has some elaboratly confusing way to fix it

Re: So if we cant fix WRM...
Everyone should make sure they delete the Mod from their computer.
C:\Program Files\Activision\Call of Duty 2\main\
Delete...
WRM_6.5_weapons_beta.iwd
WRM_6.5b_beta.iwd
If you have a folder C:\Program Files\Activision\Call of Duty 2\wrm\ , then delete that \wrm\ folder.
When we get the server back up, it should be server-side, and you shouldn't need to download anything.
