HQ Conversions
While trying to convert Silotown for use with HQ, I noticed that it's not even set up to handle Deathmatch properly (which causes problems when trying to implement HQ, since the player spawns overlap). I found a newer version of our hosted maps (including Silotown, with proper player spawnpoints) here, and was wondering if you guys would want to update the WRM server to run these maps. What do ya'll think?

Re: HQ Conversions
i think we need to keep all map mods and tests on the scrim server, when we add custom maps people see the 30 minute download and just leave
that sounds like a good idea trooper.

Re: HQ Conversions
True dat, Troop. Once we test them on Server 2, and if we think they're good to go, maybe we could think about moving new maps over to Server 1. As with the other custom maps we host, any new custom maps could be made available in our map downloads section.

Re: HQ Conversions
I agree. Let's keep all the testing and stuff on server 2. Once we get people interested they can populate that server and help with the testing and such.

Re: HQ Conversions
Groovy. Okay, I'm going to go ahead and modify the maps in this map pack for server-side HQ. We can test them on Server 2 soon.
I'm still not very happy with Trainyard, so we'll have to decide if we really want to run that map or not. On the other hand, I think Silotown should make a good HQ map.

Re: HQ Conversions
Okay, I've got Beltot 2 and Silotown 2 ready for HQ testing. These two maps are part of the map pack mentioned above.
For those who want to test, please download the map pack, but don't install it until we're actually ready to get on the server and test. The changes I've made for HQ are server-side only, so we won't have to pass maps around on xFire anymore. I'm trying to simplify our use of custom maps so we'll get as much server traffic as possible. As such, you'll only need to download this map pack once.
Bone, I uploaded the map pack with my server-side modifications to the FTP site. Please don't install it until we're ready to test, as it might cause problems with other versions of the same maps we're already running on the server.
Let me know when you guys would be able to test on Server 2. If these two maps are good to go, I'll go ahead and do Rhine, and I'll also finish Trainyard just in case we decide to use it after all.

Re: HQ Conversions
Good news. I've learned how to restrict weapons on a per-map basis. So, for example, I can now restrict Trainyard so that no sniper rifles are available. I think this would make Trainyard much more enjoyable.
There is also a setting in WRM to prevent a player from taking any fall damage for a specified amount of time after spawning. By setting this to a value of something like five seconds, we could eliminate the problem of spawning up high and getting killed when trying to jump down to the ground.
All good things!

Re: HQ Conversions
More good news. I can now make it so that, when you choose a team to join, your only menu options available are:
1. Auto Assign
2. Spectate
This should help solve any issues with team stacking.
I'm not having much luck with the grenade loadouts for kits, but I can make it so that each kit gets two frag grenades and one smoke grenade. This should suffice for the TG style of play, I would think.
