Big, lots of cover, non-linear... excellent.

Murmansk has been released and, assuming that I can find a few other quality maps to include with it in a map pack, should be on our server for this Wednesday's action.

Other maps you should add if you can find:

    Tilly-sur-Seulles (1.1)
    Kustov Station Final
    Brittany, France
    Carentan 2, France
    St. Renan, France
    Boneville, France

Great suggestions! I've actually downloaded and been through each one of those (and countless others) in the past weeks, and thought that a couple of them were pretty good. Given that we can only have so many maps on the server (due to the dreaded IWD Sum/Mismatch error), I chose other maps over these due to their size and quality. I can certainly remove some of the existing maps in rotation in favor of these, though, if there is a desire for them.

You never know until you try them, I think some of the older maps or snipefest maps are getting old.

indeed, i'm ok if we drop valley of kings (or w/e it is called) and a few stock maps.

hmm, an idea: we could set up a night (i imagine a weds) where we have all custom maps on the server and let everyone give them a whirl w/ our gameplay modifications and see if they meet our standards. afterwards we could have a forum poll (or a few if needed) to decide which ones to keep and drop.

    Re: New Maps Coming Soon!

We can definitely drop the stock maps from rotation, but that doesn't mean that we'll be able to host more custom maps. The stock maps are ALWAYS loaded on the server, even if they're not in rotation.

It's great to finally have folks interested in looking at custom maps! I'm happy to add/remove whatever maps you guys want to/from our server rotation, assuming they meet our quality and playing standards. If you want to organize a night for testing custom maps, I'd say go for it. I'd recommend against having this night on the regularly scheduled CoD2 night, though, because not everyone will want to spend their playing time testing maps that might not pan out. If you had a test night on Mondays, perhaps, you could choose which new maps provided good gameplay, and I could have them ready to go for Wednesday. You'd need to let me know which of the current maps to replace them with.

Wildcat, I've played Falaise (mp_fourregerre) quite a bit on the 82nd Airborne's server. It's a decent map (and large), but there were a lot of complaints about it being extremely difficult for the attacking team since there are basically only two directions from which to attack. But, I can certainly swap it into our server rotation if you guys want to try it.

    I forgot to say....

I can certainly remove Valley of the Kings from rotation, if desired. One thing about that map, though -- are you guys aware that there is a tunnel that connects the bunker in the middle of the map to a small building near objective B? This tunnel can be very useful as an attack route. Most players on this map keep overwatch on the dunes while on defense, but few (if any) protect the tunnel exit near B. So there is more to this map than just long-range sniping.

i'm fine w/ keeping it on the server for those that want to, but atleast out of rotation so when it is just 2-4 ppl we dont have to play the waiting game

and i would really like to follow through w/ the map testing day, i would suggest a sun-tuesday day for the upcoming weds. we'll just have to see which day works, but w/e it is i'll do my be there

Monday night would work for me just for testing maps. I was pretty successful at the Falaise map with a few of other players being able to use smoke on the LMS Server.

If the final version of Murmansk is released in time, I'll get both it and the final version of Heat up on our server in time for this Wednesday's action.

I would like to see more CQC maps, much like V2, that map seems to require more tactical teamwork because of the doors and the fact that it is CQC, whereas other much more open maps is who has lasik and who doesn't lol.

    just my $0.02

Strangely, V2 is kind of unusual when it comes to CoD2 maps. I haven't seen any others yet with doors like V2 has.

Murmansk will involve quite a bit of CQB. In fact, there is an underground tunnel system that's nothing but tight corridors and rooms. We could have a lot of fun with this one!
